Food Processing
Food processing is the set of methods and techniques used to transform raw ingredients into food or to transform food into other forms for consumption by humans or animals either in the home or by the food processing industry. Food processing typically takes clean, harvested crops/products and uses these to produce attractive, marketable and often long shelf-life food products. Processed foods are usually less susceptible to early spoilage than fresh foods and are better suited for long distance transportation from the source to the consumer. The main topics to be covered during this training are given as follows:
1. Importance of Food Preservation Technology
2. Common terms used in Food Processing
3. Quality assurance (HACCP)
4. Food Laws and Regulations
5. Shelf life of foods
6. Dehydration and Drying
7. Food Freezing
8. Food Packaging
9. Nutritional Values
10. Minimal Processing
Course Fee: For Rs. 3,000/-
Fee payable by DD in favour of “STEP–TIET” payable at Patiala.
(Course fee includes only programme fee and course material; Boarding/lodging and travel to be borne by the candidate; Campus hostel accommodation can be provided on request on chargeable basis subject to availability. Fee once deposited will not be refunded.)
