1. YOUNG SCIENTIST AWARD: Members of BRSI of 35 years or below as on 31 December 2011 involved in Biotech R&D for his/her outstanding contributions would be eligible. Award carries a silver medal, citation and memento.
2. WOMAN SCIENTIST AWARD: Women members of BRSI below the age of 45 years as on 31 December 2011 involved in Biotech R&D for her outstanding contributions would be eligible. Award carries a silver medal, citation and memento.
3. LIFE TIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD: Members of BRSI above the age of 55 years as on 31 December 2011 involved in Biotech R&D for his/her life time contribution to the field of Biotechnology would be eligible. Award carries a silver medal,citation and memento.
4. INDUSTRIAL MEDAL AWARD: Members of BRSI involved in Biotech R&D for his/her outstanding contribution, which has  resulted in commercialization of a product/process. Award carries a silver medal, citation and memento.
5. FELLOW OF BRSI: Eminent members of BRSI having long-standing and significant contribution to the field working in various areas of biotechnology shall be considered to be elected as Fellow of BRSI (FBRS).
6. HONORARY FELLOW OF BRSI: Eminent persons who have rendered distinguished service to the nation in Biotechnology shall be considered to be conferred as Honorary Fellow of BRSI. Award carries a citation and a memento. Nomination can be made by the members of the Board of BRSI. For this, the nominee may or may not be member of BRSI.
7. AU-CBT EXCELLENCE AWARDS FOR RESEARCH SCHOLARS (TWO AWARDS): Members of BRSI registered for Ph.D. studies in any Indian university/institute below the age of 30 years as on 31 December 2011 involved in Biotech R&D for his/her outstanding performance. Award carries a citation and cash award of Rs 5000 for each.
8. SBC-MKU GENOMICS AWARD: Members of BRSI involved in R&D in the area of Genomics Sciences for his/her outstanding contribution. Award carries a silver medal, citation and memento.
9. MALAVIYA MEMORIAL AWARDS FOR TEACHING FACULTIES (TWO AWARDS – ONE FOR YOUNG FACULTY BELOW THE AGE OF 40 YEARS AND ONE FOR THE SENIOR FACULTY ABOVE THE AGE OF 40 YEARS): Members of BRSI working as teachers involved in Biotech R&D for his/her outstanding contribution. Award carries a silver medal, citation and memento.

2012 Lilly Outstanding Thesis Awards
National Organic Symposium Trust (NOST) invites nominations for ‘2012 Eli Lilly and Company Asia Outstanding Thesis Awards’ from Ph.D. scientists who have submitted their thesis and made significant contributions in the field of medicinal chemistry, organic synthesis, computational chemistry, structural biology or analytical chemistry.
ELIGIBILITY: The candidate must be a full-time Ph.D. student who has submitted his/her Ph.D. thesis in the area of medicinal chemistry, organic synthesis, computational chemistry, structural biology or analytical chemistry from premier research institutions in India between 1 June 2011 and 31 May 2012.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
• Resume of the nominee.
• An abstract (up to 5 pages) prepared by the nominee describing his/her research. The abstract may include figures and references to provide enough information for the evaluation committee to judge the quality and impact of the thesis work without the original document.
• List of publications.
• Academic track record.
• Three letters of recommendation, one of which must be from his/her thesis advisor.
NOMINATION: By a Three-Member Committee of the corresponding Institute appointed by the Director/Head of the Institute. FINAL SELECTION: By a Five-Member Committee selected by the Chairman, NOST Trustee. Final selection of the 10 First Prize recipients and 10 Second Prize recipients from a pool of nominees from the research institutions in India will be made by the NOST Selection Committee.

The Department of Science, Mody Institute of Technology and Science is organizing a DBT-sponsored training course for mid-career scientist involved in undergraduate teaching in Life-Sciences and Chemical Science from 05 to 20 July 2012. The course would of one lecture by Guest faculty drawn from reputed research institutes in the country and will be followed by a practicals/hands-on session per day. Candidates below 40 years of age, holding regular positions in colleges or research institutes may apply for this course. There are no registration fees and travel support. The applicants would have to be sponsored by their own institutions.

2) Salary in respect of Retired Teacher will be fixed as per rules. Appropriate designation & Pay can be considered for Senior Teacher/Faculty who retired from active service. In such cases, they should submit the API score sheet along with the copies of the credentials in support of their claim as prescribed by University Grants Commission from time to time and should have a minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based on Performance Bases Appraisal System (PBAS), set out in the UGC Regulations, 2010. 3) The selected candidates will be appointed on purely temporary basis for a period of one academic year. Candidates cannot claim for permanency on appointment to the temporary positions.
4) No TA/DA will be paid for attending interview.

POST: Scientific Officer (Pearl Millet Breeding)
ICRISAT seeks applications from Indian nationals for the post of Scientific Officer (Pearl Millet Breeding) to be based at Patancheru, Andhra Pradesh, India. This is a nationally recruited position.
ICRISAT is a non-profit, apolitical, international organization for science-based agricultural development. POST: Director, CGIAR Research Program 3.6 ‘Dryland Cereals’
ICRISAT is seeking an innovative, dynamic and creative Program Director who is a strong believer in partnerships to lead and manage the CGIAR Research Program on Dryland Cereals. 
The Consultative Group for International Agriculture Research (CGIAR) Research Program on Dryland Cereals (CRP 3.6) will focus on four staple cereals (barley, finger millet, pearl millet, and sorghum) that are of particular significance to smallholder farmers, especially women, in marginal dryland environments of Africa and Asia. The program will enhance the use of genetic resources and breeding efficiency, produce high yielding varieties with resistances to major biotic and abiotic stresses, improve crop management to reduce yield gaps, and improve systems to deliver new technologies into the hands of smallholders. The CRP is a global partnership among the CGIAR Centers ICRISAT (Lead Center) and ICARDA, plus and an array of principal partners including ICAR, India; AREEO, Iran; IRD and CIRAD, France; INTSORMIL, USA; and the Generation Challenge Program. THE POSITION
The CRP Program Director will report to the Director General, ICRISAT/Chair of the CRP 3.6 Steering Committee, and will be based at ICRISAT’s Headquarters in Patancheru, near Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India. The position is for an initial three-year period with the opportunity for renewal based on performance and availability of funding.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Develop a clear and shared vision for CRP 3.6 among all partners and stakeholders and communicate this vision to all stakeholders.
•Provide intellectual leadership to, and coordinate implementation of, the CRP.
•Develop strong partnerships among participating centers, partners and other stakeholders.
•Represent the CRP in international for a to ensure that the Dryland Cereals program is highly visible and strongly supported by investors and other stakeholders.
•Guide fundraising efforts for the DRYLAND CEREALS CRP together with the Centers and other partners.
•Ensure that the CRP has well developed and articulated gender and capacity strengthening strategies, defined work plans, clear deliverables, and that the CRP meets its programmatic and financial targets.
THE PERSON
•Demonstrated leadership qualities and track record in leading multicultural and multi-disciplinary teams and building partnerships for collaborative and cross-cutting research.
•At least 10 years of relevant experience, including research management experience, in an international, multi-disciplinary, and multi-cultural environment.
•PhD degree in a relevant discipline with a broad perspective on dryland agriculture in the developing world and across the research for development agenda.
•Proven fund-raising record.
•Demonstrated commitment to gender equity and diversity.
•Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS
Employment contract will be for an initial three-year term. Salary will be internationally competitive, paid in US dollars, and commensurate with experience. THE POSITION
The CRP Program Director will report to the Director General, ICRISAT/Chair of the CRP 3.5 Steering Committee, and will be based at ICRISAT’s Headquarters in Patancheru, near Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India. The position is for an initial three-year period with the opportunity for renewal based on performance and availability of funding.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Develop a clear and shared vision for CRP 3.5 among all partners and stakeholders and communicate this vision to all stakeholders.
•Provide intellectual leadership to, and coordinate implementation of, the CRP.
•Develop strong partnerships among participating centers, partners and other stakeholders.
•Represent the CRP in international for a to ensure that the Grain Legumes program is highly visible and strongly supported by investors and other stakeholders.
•Guide fundraising efforts for the Grain Legumes CRP together with the Centers and other partners.
•Ensure that the CRP has well developed and articulated gender and capacity strengthening strategies, defined work plans, clear deliverables, and that the CRP meets its programmatic and financial targets.
THE PERSON:
•Demonstrated leadership qualities and track record in leading multicultural and multi-disciplinary teams and building partnerships for collaborative and cross-cutting research.
•At least 10 years of relevant experience, including research management experience, in an international, multi-disciplinary, and multi-cultural environment.
•PhD degree in a relevant discipline with a broad perspective on agriculture in the developing world and across the research for development agenda, particularly involving grain legumes.
•Proven fund-raising record.
•Demonstrated commitment to gender equity and diversity.
•Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:Employment contract will be for an initial three-year term. Salary will be internationally competitive, paid in US dollars, and commensurate with experience. ICRISAT provides additional benefits, including employer-paid medical, life and disability insurance and retirement benefits.
