1.0 ELLIGIBILITY
1.1 Candidate for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy must, at the time of application, hold Master’s degree with at least 60% marks or an equivalent grade of the University, a deemed University or any other University incorporated by any law for the time being in force and recognized by the University. However, for SC/ST candidates, 55% marks  are required instead of 60%.
1.2 A candidate will ordinarily be permitted to work for Ph.D. Degree in the subject in which he/she has obtained his Master’s or Bachelor degree in Engineering / Technology / Applied Sciences. Provided that the subject must be one of the subjects included in the Statute of the list of subjects of the University and teaching must be going on in the subject in University Teaching Departments /college affiliated to the University, which has been recognized as a research centre.
1.3 Ph.D. degree may be allowed in allied subjects of interdisciplinary nature of the same faculty or of allied faculties. Whether a subject is allied or not to the subject in which the candidate has done Master’s or Bachelor degree in Engineering / Technology /Applied Sciences, shall be decided by the Academic Council.
2.0 AVAILABILITY OF SEATS
2.1 The number of seats available for admission to Ph.D. programme will be notified at University Portal and will depend on number of supervisors available in the university
3.0 ADMISSION PROCEDURE

5.0 IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS

Under the overall supervision of the Director, Trieste Component, the incumbent will be responsible for:
- providing the ICGEB research community with a platform of up-to-date instrumentation and adequate expertise to apply high-throughput screening approaches, in particular genome-wide RNA interference screening (siRNA and miRNA), to fundamental biomedical research. In particular:
- evaluating, maintaining and acquiring instrumentation for the HTS facility, which includes a high-content screening microscope, a liquid handling station, a multimode plate reader and associated IT infrastructure;
- evaluating and acquiring libraries to be used in the screening projects, including a human genome-wide siRNA library;
- handling all library stocks (resuspension, reformatting, aliquoting, preparation of assay plates, storage);
- designing and optimizing screening assays;
- implementing standard procedures and protocols to be followed by researchers working at the facility;
- assisting researchers in the design, optimization and implementation of screening assays;
- training and assisting researchers to use the instrumentation and perform screening experiments;
- advanced analysis of screening data (single readouts and high-content microscopy data);
- management and supervision of all the activities performed in the screening facility.
QUALIFICATIONS: - Ph.D. Degree in molecular biology, cell biology or equivalent.
- Postdoctoral experience in molecular or cell biology.
- Familiarity with HTS equipment.
- Previous experience in managing HTS services desirable
LANGUAGES:
English essential, other languages, in particular Italian, an asset.
