Applications are invited for one post of Scientist-D (Reproductive Biology) (UR) in the Pay Band -3 Rs. 15600-39100+ Rs. 7600 (Grade Pay) within 21 days from the date of publication of this advertisement at the National Institute for Research in Reproductive Health, Mumbai.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION: (i) 1st class Master’s Degree in Life/Biological Sciences or relevant biological discipline from a recognized University or 2nd class M. Sc. with Ph.D in relevant subject from a recognized University. (ii) Eight years Research and Development (R & D) experience in the relevant areas, in recognized Institutes after obtaining essential qualification (i) out of which at least 2 years in a management position to handle R & D projects in a team effectively in a directing capacity.
DESIRABLE: i) Doctorate Degree in Life / Biological Science subject from a recognized University. (ii) Additional Post doctoral research/teaching experience in relevant subjects in recognized Institute(s). (iii) Knowledge of Computer Applications.
JOB REQUIREMENT: To carry out research on non-human primate models for health research. To co-ordinate research activities in this area. To assist Director as and when required. To co-ordinate various research activities like procurement of monkeys and maintain their health status and breeding of these animals. Scientist will also formulate and design various research projects in the areas of Maternal Health and Contraceptive Research using non-human primate models.
AGE:
Not exceeding 45 years. Relaxable up to 5 years for Government servants and for SC/ST/OBC candidates in accordance with the instructions issued by the Department of Personnel and Training from time to time in this regard. However, the prescribed age may be relaxed in exceptional cases for experienced & qualified candidates.
One time age relaxation is also allowed to Scientific and Technical staff working in long term projects in ICMR Institutes/Centres for posts advertised under HRSC, 2007 provided they meet essential qualifications and experience for the post with a view to provide them opportunity to compete with other candidates as per Council’s letter No. 6/1/2007-Admn.II dated 28.03.2011.
General Relaxation clause: Age, qualification and experience will be relaxable in deserving cases as mentioned in the Recruitment Rules of Health Research Scientists Cadre of ICMR, 2007.
Allowances as per Central Government Rules are admissible on the above pay scale Benefits of new restructured defined Contributory Pension system are admissible as per the provision contained in the Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic Affairs (ECB & PR Division), Notification No. 5/7/2003-ECB & PR dated 22.12.2003 effective from 01.01.2004.

Application form duly completed in all respects and signed by the applicant should be sent on the above mentioned address and should reach the Institute on or before the closing date along with attested copies of the certificates in support of date of birth, educational qualification, experience etc. and a crossed Indian Postal Order (IPO) for Rs. 100/- (Rupees One Hundred Only) payable to the Director, NIRRH, Mumbai. SC/ST & physically handicapped candidates (PH) are exempted from the application fees payable in form of IPO. IPOs are payable by all other candidates including ICMR employees. Incomplete/late applications or without postal orders will not be entertained. Application received after the closing date for whatever reason is liable to be rejected. Application with evidence for proof of age (HSC certificate), educational qualifications and supporting documents of experiences to be furnished for consideration. Unsigned/incomplete application or application without supportive evidence asked for/without postal order application received late shall be summarily rejected.
Note: Since it is not be possible to call all the eligible candidates for the interview /personal discussion, the applicants will be short-listed for this purpose. Ph.D degree in subjects relevant to Indian Council of Medical Research shall be treated equivalent to three years experience respectively. Candidates with Ph.D degree will be preferred for direct recruitment. If no suitable candidate is found at Scientist-D level, DG, ICMR reserves the right to appoint a person at Scientist-C level. The decision of the Director General, ICMR will be final in this regard. Any canvassing by or on behalf of the candidates or to bring political or other outside influence with regard to selection/recruitment shall be disqualification.
