 ABOUT TERI-ITEC
TERI is empanelled by the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC)/ Special Commonwealth African Assistance Programme (SCAAP), government of India, for this programme. Under the programme, seven courses are being offered for the year 2011-12. These are: climate change, decentralized energy solutions, sustainable development, energy-efficient technologies, solar energy, biotechnology, and renewable energy and trade and sustainable development.
Each individual course is a three-week long residential programme conducted in India, attended by participants from other developing countries. The courses are designed to meet the needs of senior and mid-level government and non-government officials from ITEC/SCAAP countries.
ADVANTAGES OF ATTENDING THE COURSE
 Increased understanding of various dimensions of each course;
 Development of practical knowledge through demonstrations and field visits; and
 Wider exposure to India as the course lectures are complemented by study tours.

COURSE DETAILS
Renewable energy has a crucial role to play in addressing the continuously growing concerns about the sustainability of the development that is taking place in today's society. The depleting reserves of fossil fuel that is the dominant source of energy and also the emissions associated with it has necessitated the exploration of alternative sources of energy.
TERI is continuously involved in research and development on renewable energy and related technological innovations, and has always attempted to bridge the gap between the advent of technology and its practical application. With experts dedicated to various fields of renewable energy and energy efficiency, who have rich experience in this field, TERI works towards sharing its knowledge for the promotion of effective use of renewable energy and in creating awareness on energy-efficiency measures.
With the objective of mass application of renewable energy in mind, TERI has been conducting international training programmes on renewable energy and energy efficiency.
The programme aims at creating awareness among the participants of various countries and sensitizing them towards the role renewables will play in sustainability of future development. The course covers the basics of different sources and forms of energy such as solar, wind, biomass-based system development and the relevant issues and challenges, role of renewable energy and energy efficiency, small hydro technology, analysis tool for renewable energy, rural energy-related issues and challenges, and also the policies related to renewable energy. The training course is structured in such a fashion so as to enable both theoretical understanding of the various fields of renewable energy as well as demonstration of their practical applications, with special reference to developing countries.

SCHOLARSHIP
The cost of the course, travel, and stay of the selected participant will be borne by ITEC (Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India).
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Fill up the ITEC/SCAAP application form and submit it to respective nodal government department/agency designated to nominate candidates. The nodal department/agency will, in turn, forward the applications to the Embassy/High Commission of India.
The selected participants would be informed by the Indian Embassies of the respective ITEC/SCAAP countries.
ACCOMMODATION
Hostel accommodation for the participants would be arranged at the TERI Retreat or at TERI University .

Walk in interview for Project Assistant/JRF
Applications are invited for the temporary position of Project Assistant/JRF for the DBT funded project “ROLE OF EPIGENETICS IN FEAR MEMORY CONSOLIDATION AND EXTINCTION”; tenable at Department of Biotechnology, BBAU, Lucknow.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: M.Sc. in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Life Sciences. NET qualified candidates will be preferred.
DESIRABLE: Experience in project related area.
STIPEND: Rs. 12000.00
DATE AND VENUE OF INTERVIEW: 01-02-2012, Department of Biotechnology, BBAU, Vidya Vihar, Raebareli Road, Lucknow. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
Registration for interview will be done between 9.00A.M. to 12.00 noon at the office of PI.
No applications will be entertained after the registration is over.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
1. Upper age limit not exceeding 28 yrs on the date of the interview. Age relaxation for SC/ST candidates 05 years and OBC candidates 03 as per govt. instructions.
2. At time of interview the candidates should bring all necessary original documents attested copies of examinations passed (starting from matriculation indicating date of birth), one latest photograph and caste certificate in case of SC/ST/OBC.
3. Provisional mark sheets / certificates and results awaited will not be considered.
4. Canvassing in any form will be disqualification to the candidates.
5. The position is purely temporary and co-terminus with the sponsored project.
6. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
