Call for Papers: The participants of the Conference are invited to contribute abstracts of the papers for oral or poster presentation on all the major food legumes (including peanuts and soybean), arid legumes (guar, moth bean, cowpea and horse gram) and forage legumes (lucerne, berseem, etc.). However, abstracts for poster presentation can be submitted on any legumes of even minor or local importance. Abstracts not exceeding 250 words should be submitted on A4 size paper in MS Word and/or mailed electronically at isprd.icl2013@gmail.com. The title of the abstract should be in bold font followed by the name(s) of author(s) and affiliation. The Abstracts will be published preconference.

Syllabus and Pattern of Examination: The syllabus for written examination will be as per ‘Annexure VIII’ for the post of Assistant.
1. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
All applicants must fulfill the essential educational requirements of the post etc. and other conditions as stipulated in the advertisement. They are advised to satisfy themselves before applying that they posses at least essential qualifications laid down for the relevant post. No enquiry for advice regarding eligibility will be entertained.
Note-I. The prescribed essential qualifications are minimum and the mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be called for written test.
Note-II. Where the number of applications received in response to an advertisement is large and it will not be convenient or possible for the Department to call for written test of all the candidates, the Department at their discretion may restrict the number of candidates, to a reasonable limit based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination. In case of grading system, the candidate must furnish conversion formula duly approved by the respective Board/Institute.
The candidate should mention all the qualifications and experience in the relevant field over and above the minimum qualifications and should attach attested copies of the certificate in support thereof.
2. DISQUALIFICATION
·         Individual who has entered into or contracted a marriage with a person two or more having a living spouse;
·         or
·         Individual who having a spouse living has entered into or contracted a marriage with any person, shall not be eligible for appointment to the service.
·         Individual who has furnished wrong information in the application form, false certificate to avail benefits/reservation, false/wrong information in the application form regarding material information, shall be liable to cancellation of candidature at any stage of recruitment process and/or termination of service, if the candidate has been selected.
3. SERVICE CONDITIONS
The candidates finally selected for appointment will be under ICAR service and are likely to be posted to any Units under Indian Institute of Vegetable Research, Varanasi and will also be liable to be appointed/transferred to any where in India.
PROBATION. The persons selected for appointment will be on probation for a period of two years, which may further be extended at the discretion of appointing authority.
HEALTH. A candidate must be in a sound mental and bodily health and free from any physical illness which is likely to interfere with the efficient discharge of his/her duties. A candidate who after such medical examination, as may be prescribed by the competent authority, is found not to satisfy these requirements will not be appointed. Only such candidates as are likely to be considered for appointment will have to be medically examined. The candidate has to be declared medically fit for the service by the competent medical authority.
HOW TO APPLY
·         Candidates must apply in the application format published alongwith this advertisement and fill up all the columns in their own hand in block letters. Candidate may also apply on plain paper but the format should exactly be the same as given in website.
· Applications on formats other than the one indicated will summarily be rejected.

(f) Resorting to any other irregular or improper means in connection with his/her candidature for the selection
(g) Using unfair means during the test, or
(h) Writing irrelevant matter including obscene language or pornographic matter, in the scripts(s), or
(i) Misbehaving in any other manner in the examination hall, or
(j) Harassing or doing bodily harm to the staff employed by the Institute for the conduct of their test, or
(k) Bringing mobile phone/communication device in the examination hall/interview room.

Persons already in Government service, whether in permanent or temporary capacity are required to submit the application through proper channel. However, their candidature will be subject to receipt of application by due date.
Additional information and general instructions for all candidates
·         Candidates must read the instructions mentioned in the preceding paras before filling the Application form. He must fill the form strictly according to the instructions.
·         Merely fulfilling the basic selection criteria one does not automatically entitle to be called for test/interview.

The basic objective of this course is to expose the participants to the issues in agricultural research planning and impact assessment. Agricultural research generates many types of outputs. These include technologies embodied in inputs (e.g., improved seeds), management practices, machinery, research methods, information, publications and improved human resources. Therefore, agricultural research institutions/ universities are supposed to undertake impact assessment of their research activities and better integrate social, economic & environmental considerations in research planning and implementation. Impact assessment is viewed as a type of research evaluation. It is a process of systematic and objective identification of the short & long-term effects−positive and negative, direct or indirect, intended or unintended, primary and secondary, on households, institutions, environment and the economy. Research evaluation involves assessing worth or value of ex-ante or ex-post impacts and is done in terms of its relevance , effectiveness and efficiency. The specific topics to be covered are: understanding what is meant by research planning and impact assessment and why research evaluation studies are important; designing impact assessment studies that respond to external and internal demands; application of available methods; good practices for impact assessment; key elements and methods of research planning. The course will also cover organizational and regulatory issues in agricultural research
PARTICIPANTS
The participants for the above course will include faculty and researchers in agricultural economics/ social sciences of SAUs, ICAR Institutes and other public institutes engaged in agricultural research. Around 15 participants will be selected.
APPROACH AND METHODOLOGY
The training program will include lectures from specialists, computer-oriented problem-solving sessions and case studies. There will be balanced emphasis on the theory and application. The participants are encouraged to bring information on technology developed by their institute for case studies.
ELIGIBILITY
The candidate must possess a masters’ degree in agricultural economics or related social sciences with at least five years teaching or research experience and should be working not below the rank of a scientist or assistant professor. Preference will be given to the candidates having some knowledge and job responsibility in the area related to the training.

Scientists desirous of participating in the course and fulfilling the eligibility conditions should apply.The last date for receipt of application in the Division is 15/07/2012. Selected candidates will be informed at least 10 days prior to the start of the training program.
