Young Scientist Awards
The awards are presented to young scientists from various branches of basic sciences every year.The award carries a cash award of Rs. 20,000 and a trophy for the winner and Rs.10,000 cash award and trophies to the runners-up in each category. One Special award in each category is presented to candidates participating from outside the twin cites of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Subject to the recommendation by the panel of judges. The selected candidates receive a cash award of Rs. 10,000 and a trophy.

Eligibility Criteria
The Candidate applying for the Research Award
·         Should have completed or be carrying out research work in any of the Universities / Deemed Universities / other Research Institutions situated in the State of Andhra Pradesh or registered in Andhra Pradesh and work any where in India.
·         Should have completed at least one year of Research work after the date of registration.
·         The research paper to be presented for the award should be part of his / her doctoral research work carried out or being carried by the candidate. A certificate from the supervisor to this effect is to be submitted along with the application.
·         Should be under 30 years of age as on 31/12/2010.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: (i) MBBS degree recognized by MCI. Or 1st Class M.Sc. degree in Toxicology, Pharmacology, Biochemistry,
Environmental Science or equivalent from recognized University.
Or 2nd class M.Sc. degree in Toxicology, Pharmacology, Biochemistry plus Ph.D. degree or equivalent in relevant subject from a recognized University.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
(i) M.D./ Ph.D. degree in the above mentioned subjects from a recognized University .
(ii) Additional Post doctoral research/teaching experience in Medical/Health subjects in recognized Institute(s).
(iii) Knowledge of Computer Applications.
(iv) Good knowledge in related instrumentation and methods.

AGE: Not exceeding 35 years. Relaxable up to 5 years for Government servants (regular) and SC/ST/OBC candidates in accordance with the instructions issued by the Department of Personnel and Training from time to time in this regard. However, the prescribed age may be relaxed in exceptional cases for experienced & qualified candidates.One time age relaxation is also allowed to Scientific and Technical Staff working in long term projects in ICMR Institutes/Centres for posts advertised under HRSC, 2007, provided they meet essential qualifications and experience for the post with a view to provide them opportunity to compete with other candidates as per Council’s letter No. 6/1/2007-Admn.II dated 28.3.2011.
GENERAL RELAXATION CLAUSE: Age, qualification and experience will be relaxable in deserving cases as mentioned in the Recruitment Rules of Health Research Scientists Cadre of ICMR, 2007.Allowances as per Central Government Rules are admissible on the above pay scale. Benefits of new restructured defined Contributory Pension system are admissible as per the provision contained in the Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic Affairs (ECB & PR Division), Notification No. 5/7/2003-ECB & PR dated 22-12-2003 effective from 01-01-2004.
Private practice is not allowed, however, non-practicing allowance is admissible to medical graduates only as per rules. Candidates called for interview will be paid a 2nd class Rail Fare by the shortest route on production of documents. Applications from employees working in Central/State Govt. Departments, Public Sector Undertakings and Govt. Funded Research agencies must be forwarded through Proper Channel.
