DBT CREST AWARD FOR STEM CELL BIOLOGY AND REGENERATIVE MEDICINE: 2011-12
Department of Biotechnology invites application for the DBT Cutting-Edge Research Enhancement and Scientific Training (CREST) Award. DBT CREST AWARD aims to promote capacity building in cutting edge areas of biotechnology and life sciences. The Award will promote and support scientists/clinicians of highest merit in their pursuit of skill enhancement in scientific research/training in overseas laboratories.
Applications are invited from Indian nationals working in the area of stem cell biology and regenerative medicine for the award of CREST (2011-2012) for conducting research in the best laboratories around the world on various aspects of stem cells and regenerative medicine.                                   
Applicants should hold regular/permanent positions in Government recognized research and academic institutions/universities. They should be interested in stem cell research, developmental biology, regenerative medicine or related R&D and educational activities and their institutions should be engaged in programs on stem cell and regenerative medicine.

ELIGIBILITY
  • Can be submitted solely by an Indian Company/ies or jointly with public partner (Universities or National Institutes).
  • More than 51% of the shares of the Company are to be held by Indian Citizens.
  • Industry should have DSIR* recognized in-house R&D unit or have IP related to the proposed activity.
  • Joint ventures and limited partnerships would be eligible for SBIRI support where the entity created meets the above requirements.
GUIDELINES FOR APPLICATIONS
1. ONLINE SUBMISSION: Applicants are encouraged to submit their proposals ONLINE (website: http://sbiri.nic.in/forms/frmAppendixA.aspx). If online submission is chosen, no hard copy is required and the applicants will be able to track the status of their proposal during the evaluation process.
2. HARD COPY SUBMISSION: The prescribed format can be downloaded from the website: www.dbtindia.nic.in/docs/sbiriapplication.doc
