(JUNIOR)
Applications are invited for the GN Ramachandran Fellowships recently instituted by the CCBB, DBT-COE, JNU to encourage young scholars to work in the interdisciplinary research in the field of computational biology. The fellowship is meant for brilliant scientists and engineers from all over the world to take up scientific research positions at SCIS, JNU.
SCOPE: Computational Biology & Data Mining.
QUALIFICATION & BACKGROUND:
i) The fellowship is open to brilliant scientists and engineers who are below the age of 35 years .
ii) The applicant should possess a Ph.D. in Science/Engineering and have adequate professional experience.
iii) These Fellowships are very selective and only those who have a proven/outstanding track-record as evident from their research publications and recognitions would be eligible.
ELIGIBILITY FOR JUNIOR FELLOW:
1. Ph.D. in any branch of natural sciences.
2. At least 2 years Post-Doc experience in theoretical/computational/quantitative sciences.
3. Preferable experience in the area of simulations, large scale data analysis, statistical modeling.
DURATION:
The duration of the fellowship will be for three years or until the project (DBT-COE at JNU) granted, whichever comes first. Every year a report will be submitted for successful progress.
NATURE OF SUPPORT:
The value of the fellowship will be Rs.40,000/- per month (consolidated)for Junior fellowship.

The GN Ramachandran Fellows will be eligible & encouraged for receiving regular research grants through the extramural funding schemes of various S&T agencies of the Government of India.
The scientists will be working at CCBB, SCIS, JNU and collaboration with the members of SCIS as well as outside the school is encouraged.
METHODOLOGY FOR SELECTION:

The core of the conference will be invited lectures from eminent Indian and overseas scientists in the areas of interest listed below. There will be ample opportunities for the younger scientists and scholars to mingle, interact and network with them. Sessions would also be organised for debates, discussions and brain storming sessions amongst the participants belonging to Academia, R&D, Industry, Government, etc. To encourage younger scientists and scholars, a certain number of short presentations and poster sessions would also be held as a part of the Conference. The sessions are expected to help keep the participants abreast of the basics of angiogenesis and recent advances in Antiangiogenic Therapy and Regenerative Medicine.

CALL FOR ABSRTACTS FOR ORAL/POSTER PRESENTATIONS
One of the goals of the conference is to encourage young scientists and scholars to participate, discuss
and promote research in the areas of angiogenesis and its therapeutics. Abstracts for short oral or poster
presentations are invited in the above-mentioned areas, and it should be clearly indicated if the abstract is for  oral or poster presentation. For the selected abstracts, the organizers reserve the right to decide on the mode of their presentation – short oral or poster.
The abstract should be typed in Times New Roman with a font size of 12 point as MS Word or ODT
document not exceeding about 300 words. The name of the presenting author should be bold and underlined.
The abstract should be organized as follows: Title, Authors' name (s), Affiliation, Address with e-mail and main text should start from a new line. A person cannot be a presenting author on more than two abstracts, and the area should be clearly mentioned in the abstract. The abstract may be sent via e-mail to
angioinindia2012@yahoo.in or be submitted as hard copy along with a soft copy addressed to the
Conference Convener.

PRESENTATION
Invited lectures will be given twenty two minutes for presentation, followed by three minutes for discussion. Some short oral presentations will be included in all the sessions subject to availability of time, and their duration would not exceed 12 minutes with 3 minutes for discussion. Poster boards (4 feet height X 3 feet width) will be provided for poster presentation.

The Statistical Genetics group of Prof. Dr. D. Metzler at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (Munich, Germany) offers a PostDoc Position for 3 years for a researcher with a PhD or Dr. degree in (Bio-)Informatics, Statistics, Mathematics or a related field.
The PostDoc will work in the project Computational and mathematical approaches for statistical sequence alignment and phylogenetic inference on emerging parallel architectures, which is collaboration with Prof. Dr. A. von Haeseler (University of Vienna) and Dr. A. Stamatakis (Heidelberg Institute for Theoretical Studies). The project is funded by the German Research Foundation DFG and the Austrian Science Fund FWF within the D-A-CH collaboration.
Applicants should provide expertise in some of the following areas: Hidden Markov Models (HMMs), Stochastic models of sequence evolution, Markov-Chain Monte-Carlo Methods (MCMC), evolutionary bioinformatics, and programming, preferably in C/C++.
