JOB DESCRIPTION / EXPERIENCE:Our current research interests are directed at understanding microbes in relationship to their host. The specific areas include host-pathogen interaction, virulence factors, microbial immunity and molecular microbiology of the bacterial human pathogen Streptococcus Pneumoniae. We apply a wide range of experimental technologies such as basic methods in bioinformatics, molecular biology, microbiology and immunology.
The ideal candidate should have background of molecular biology and/or immunology (or related areas), and should be interested in working with Streptococcus Pneumoniae. Experience in working with pathogenic bacteria, mice handling and functioning in a Bio - safety level - 3 laboratories are added advantage.
EMOLUMENTS: Rs. 22,000 plus 30% HRA
GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1.         The posts exist in sponsored projects and are purely temporary. There shall be no claim for regularisation against any core posts of the Institute.
2         The candidates selected for the above posts will be on contract for one year or duration of the project whichever is shorter, at a time.
3         No hostel/ housing facility will be provided.
4.        Number of posts may vary and shall be need based. Advertisement is no commitment.

Applications are invited for Indian nationals for the position of “JRF/SRF/RA” in a CSIR sponsored project entitled “Ecology and Behaviour of group-living spiders”.
NO. OF POSITIONS: 1
QUALIFICATIONS: For JRF- Master’s degree in any area of Biological Sciences with minimum of 55% marks, qualified NET-JRF/LS or GATE (valid qualified score). For SRF- Master’s degree in any area of Biological Sciences with minimum of 55% marks with Two years of research experience assessed from published project work or SRF-Direct (CSIR).  For RA- Ph.D. in any area of Bioloigcal Sciences and at least 55% marks in M.Sc. Candidates who have submitted a Ph.D. thesis, and yet to be awarded may also apply, and if selected such candidates will be given a provisional RA position until a Ph.D. degree is awarded.
EXPERIENCE: Familiarity with techniques in ecological research and the aptitude for fieldwork is preferred. Some experience with using DNA fingerprinting techniques is a plus.
Age limit: 28, 32 and 35 yrs for JRF, SRF and RA, respectively. A relaxation of 3-5 yrs will be applicable to OBC/SC/ST, women and physically handicapped candidates, as per rules.
FELLOWSHIP: JRF-NET: monthly 16000/- + HRA; JRF-NET-LS or GATE: 12000/- + HRA, SRF-Direct: 18000/- + HRA, RA-provisional: 20000/- + HRA, RA: 22000/- + HRA.
DURATION: Initial appointment for one year, extendable up to 3 yrs based on performance.
