Applications are invited for the following position in a ICMR sponsored research project entitled Studies on the influence of exotic weeds on mosquito population structure and vector borne disease spread by using Mathematical models in Vaigai river basin of Tamilnadu, south India”
DURATION OF THE PROJECT: Two years (2012-2014)
1. NAME OF THE POSITION: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: M.Sc./ M.Phil in Botany/ Plant Sciences; preference will be given to those candidates who have research experience in mosquito vector research and/ or NET/ GATE qualified candidates.
EMOLUMENTS: Rs. 16,000 per month + HRA as per University norms
2. NAME OF THE POSITION: Senior Research Fellow (SRF)/ Research Associate (RA)
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: M.Sc./ M.Phil/ Ph.D in Botany/ Biology with specialization in Ecology/Plant Biochemistry/Plant Molecular Biology/Plant Cytogenetics. At least 2 years of research experience is essential for the post of SRF. Preference will be given to those candidates who have research experience in mosquito vector research.
EMOLUMENTS: Rs. 23,000 per month (For RA); Rs. 18,000 per month (For SRF) + HRA as per University norms
3. FIELD STAFF
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: M. Sc. in Botany/ Zoology/ Chemistry; preference will be given to those candidates who have experience in water and soil analysis.
EMOLUMENTS: Rs. 16,179 per month (consolidated)

Junior Research Fellow (one post): M Sc in the area of biological or life sciences. Experiences in any field of Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Cell Biology, Genetics and Biochemistry are highly preferred. Fellowships commensurate with experience.

Call for Nominations
In order to recognize excellence in teaching of science, the Academy proposes to institute the INSA Teachers Award to value consistent and high level of teaching in Indian Colleges, Universities and  Institutions. The award aims to recognize and honour teachers who have inspired students to take up careers in Science and Technology. All disciplines of Science and Technology including Medical and Engineering Sciences will come under the purview of this award. The maximum number of awards shall be 10 per year. The awardees shall receive a scroll, a cash award of Rs 50,000 and a one time book grant not exceeding Rs 20,000.
The nominee should be currently working in India and should have at least 10 years of teaching experience at undergraduate or postgraduate level in any Indian College/University/Institution. Any teacher below the age of 55 years as on 31 December 2011 shall be eligible for nomination.
A person may be nominated by the Fellow of INSA, Principal of a College, Vice-Chancellor of a University, Director of an Institution or by any former student who is associated with an academic/R&D institution. The nominator may forward only one nomination in a year.

A ‘Refresher Course in Action Zoology: The Emerging Trends’ for university and college teachers will be held in the Department of Zoology, University of Allahabad, Allahabad from 5 to 19 September 2012.
The main objective of this course is to discuss the application oriented science of Action Zoology namely: physiology, biotechnology, genetic engineering, bioinformatics, radiation biology, molecular cytogenetics and genotoxicity, neurobiology, bio-mathematical modelling, computer application in transformational technology, invertebrates and vertebrates. The lectures will be supplemented by discussion and practical demonstration and emphasis will be on learning so as to be directly useful in teaching at UG and PG levels.
University/degree college/PG college teachers who wish to participate in this course may submit their brief curriculum vitae (including name, date of birth, sex, educational qualifications, teaching experience, courses taught, positions held, postal and e-mail addresses with phone numbers, etc.).
An approval letter from the Head of the Department/relevant authority permitting the applicant to attend the Refresher Course must accompany the application. Participants will not have to appear in any examination during the Refresher Course. All the participants will be given a certificate after completion of this Refresher Course. Women teachers, senior research fellows and guest lecturers are also encouraged to apply.
Selected participants will be provided local hospitality and round trip train fare to Allahabad (3-tier AC) by the shortest route.

IBAB invites applications for the position of instructors (3 positions) to help in conducting the laboratory courses of the M.Sc. programme.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Instructors are expected to be in charge of the graduate teaching laboratories. They would be responsible for the maintenance of the laboratories and for conducting laboratory courses in consultation with the resident faculty members. They are also expected to provide help in the design and discharge of the laboratory curriculum and evaluation of students.
ELIGIBILITY:
Applicants for the instructor position must have an M.Sc. degree in Life Sciences or a M.Tech. in Biotechnology. Experience with model organisms such as Drosophila and C. elegans is preferred.
Experience in cell culture, microbiology, biochemistry and/or molecular biology is highly desired.

Research Associate post(Stress Proteomics and Functional Genomics of Abiotic Stress Response in Nitrogen-fixing Anabaena) at BARC, Mumbai

time Research Associate (RA) for a period of one year from 1 August 2012 to 31 July 2013 in a DST
sponsored research project entitled ‘Stress Proteomics and Functional Genomics of Abiotic
Stress Response in Nitrogen-fixing Anabaena Strains Typical of Indian Soils’ to be undertaken
at the Molecular Biology Division of this institute. The selected candidate shall be required to work full
time in the Molecular Biology Division, BARC, Mumbai, for one year. The post of RA is purely
temporary and co-terminus with the project which will terminate on 31 July 2013.
Eligibility for Research Associate: Ph.D. in Microbiology/Biochemistry/Molecular Biology/
