 JOB REQUIREMENTS:
The project is field oriented and incumbents would be required to undertake extensive touring of the beneficiary families in the villages of four blocks of Hoshiarpur District with its central point at Talwara. Research Associates would be required to provide technical guidance to the farmers by organizing training programmes and field camps, delivery of input services, collection and compilation of information to study the impact of technology transfer on improved productivity of livestock, income and employment generation.
 AGE LIMIT: Upper age limit is 40 years on the date of interview. Age relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST and women candidates and 3 years for OBC candidates is permissible.

ABOUT THE PROJECT: India has one of the extended coastal ecosystems and being one of the mega diversity hot spots, abounds in biodiversity. The members of the phylum Spirochetes are an important group of bacteria which are free living in association as symbionts or most important pathogens. The present project for the first time primarily aims in cataloging the rich diversity of free living spirochetes of marine habitats of India through culture dependent and independent (metagenomics) approaches using pyrosequencing technology. In addition, the work involves studies on bioprospecting the metabolites produced by the spirochetes and the identification of biomolecules using polychem analysis. The research work involves an inter-disciplinary approach involving biology and chemistry which helps the candidate to be trained in the upcoming areas of metagenomics/metabolomics coupled to bioprospecting. WALK-IN-INTERVIEW
It  is  proposed  to  fill  up  the  temporary  and  time  bound  positions of Research Associate on contractual basis under the following project. The eligible and desirous candidates fulfilling all the requirements are invited to appear before the Selection Committee for interview at V.P.K.A.S. (ICAR), Almora on 16.05.2012 at 10.00 AM.
1.         NAIP funded project “Enhancement of Livelihood security through sustainable farming system and related farm enterprises in North West Himalayas”. 
NAME OF POST        :           Research Associate (7 posts)
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION           :           M.Sc./M.Sc. (Ag.)/M.Tech./Ph. D. in Horticulture/Plant Protection/Agronomy/Soil Science/Post Harvest Eng./ Plant Breeding and Genetics/Seed Technology/ Extension Education/Agricultural Engineering/Agricultural Economics any other related subjects.
EXPERIENCE:Experience in extension, research and development in hill agriculture.
EMOLUMENT:23,000/- + HRA per month for Master Degree.
 24,000/- + HRA per month for Ph.D. holders.
AGE LIMIT: The upper age limit is 40 years for men and 45 years for women on the date of interview (relaxation in age for SC/ST/OBC as per GOI/ICAR norms)
LOCATION: Project sites at Champawat/Dharonj/Mudiani or any other sites of the project.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
1. The posts are purely temporary on contractual basis and co-terminus with the projects.
2. The applicants must bring their bio-data (affixed with recent passport size photograph) along with original and photocopies of mark sheets and certificates of all examinations passed.
3. No T.A. will be paid to the candidates for attending the interview.
4. The selection of candidates doesn’t entail on them any right for absorption/ regularization at VPKAS (ICAR), Almora or any other sister concern including ICAR Headquarter.
5. The Director’s decision will be final and binding in all respects.

Date and Venue: The conference will be held at the Indian Institute of Pulses Research (IIPR), Kanpur during February 9-11, 2013.
Call for Papers: The participants of the Conference are invited to contribute abstracts of the papers for oral or poster presentation on all the major food legumes (including peanuts and soybean), arid legumes (guar, moth bean, cowpea and horse gram) and forage legumes (lucerne, berseem, etc.). However, abstracts for poster presentation can be submitted on any legumes of even minor or local importance. Abstracts not exceeding 250 words should be submitted on A4 size paper in MS Word and/or mailed electronically at isprd.icl2013@gmail.com. The title of the abstract should be in bold font followed by the name(s) of author(s) and affiliation. The Abstracts will be published preconference.
