POST: Research Technician
Responsibilities:
- To conduct participatory field trials with farmers at different districts and collect high quality data sets required for scientific research
- Day to day supervision of various activities in the farmers’ fields and collection, compilation and tabulation of data
- To train the farmers/farm facilitators and provide technical support, maintaining improved interventions at benchmark locations
- To record scientific data, collecting of the information about the farmers and undertaking the crop cutting experiments to record yields in the demonstration plots.
- In addition to the above, any other responsibilities as entrusted by supervisor
Competencies:
- Fluent in English and local language (Telugu/Kannada/ Maharashtra) (Written and spoken)
- Proficiency in computer skills (MS Office, data analysis)
- Should be a good team player and adaptable to working in multicultural team
Requirements:
- B.Sc (Agri) / B.Sc in Biological Sciences / Science Graduate from any stream with essential knowledge of agricultural crops and livestock.
- Candidates with flair for field work, group interactions and suitable experience will be preferred

POST: Scientific Officer for AVRDC – The World Vegetable
Center
Key responsibilities:
- Assist in conducting controlled growth assays (Glasshouse and controlled environment conditions); in identifying water use efficient and high biomass genotypes among germplasm of vegetable species.
- Manage and maintain vegetable crops in the field. Conduct field screening for vegetable species for growth and yield traits (develop growth and yield assays). Handle and process research data for statistical analysis.
- Timely (crop growth wise) collection of biological samples (leaf, stem, grain etc) in replicates and assist for stable isotopes analysis using IRMS.
- Assist to produce papers for publication in refereed journals and conference presentation
- Provide activity/progress reports and support services to official activities
- Perform other tasks that may be assigned
Qualifications and experience: A bachelor degree in Agriculture/Horticulture with a
Master’s in Crop/Plant Physiology; At least three (3) years of R & D
experience in crop/plant physiology related work (lab assays, controlled
growth/field related growth/yield measurements, conservation agriculture
concepts, water relations, WUE etc), some working knowledge on stable isotopes
(carbon & oxygen); Good analytical and technical skills, analyze data and
communicate research findings; Good management and organizational skills;
Demonstrated ability to deliver outputs on time and accurately with minimum
supervision; good computer skills (MS Office/excel, statistical programs); Good
in written and spoken English; Willingness to travel within India; Highly
motivated and creative, can work effectively in a multicultural environment.
The appointment: A competitive all-inclusive consolidated compensation will
be paid based on experience and skills. The appointment is for one year (12
months only).

invites applications for Scientific Officer (Scaling-up) to undertake
scaling-up research in Africa to be based in Ethiopia to serve the ESA region.
Responsibilities:
- To undertake participatory development research for integrating and testing technologies in partnership with farmers
- Build network of partners, development investors and assist the country coordinator/IDC director in mobilizing the resources for scaling-up research
- Prepare reports of various trials and help the country coordinator/ IDC Director for preparing the project proposals targeting to specific countries
- To plan, conduct on-farm trials and analyze the data for writing the documents
The
Person:
- MSc in Agriculture/Horticulture with excellent academic background
- At least five years of experience in scaling-up research or participatory research for development
- Excellent written and oral communication

Responsibilities
Brokerage of information, knowledge,
contacts, initiatives, partnerships within the IP (farmers, private sector,
government support services, development community) and with research partners
Organize and facilitate capacity
development of farmers and IP members on the ‘quick wins’ as prioritized by the
IP, through regular field visits and per assignment as planned in the project
Coordinate, implement and document
multi-stakeholder meetings, coordinate visits of researchers and support data
collection (secondary data, baseline and monitoring)
Clear and timely communications that carry
the momentum of activities and support instant learning and planning
Documentation and report writing in English
and Portuguese language
Representation of the project at national
meetings, as per request
The Person:
BSc (Agricultural economics; rural
sociology; communication sciences; development studies or related discipline).
MSc would be an advantage
Minimum 2 years of postgraduate experience
in research and/or development
Knowledge on smallholder crop livestock
production, notably agronomic technologies and market development, collective
action, institutional development, innovation systems, climate variability and
change in the Mozambican drylands
Practical experience in stakeholder
engagement and value chain development would be advantageous.
Skills and Requirements:
Since this position is key to support the
implementation of Innovation Platforms, excellent communication and
facilitation skills, strong ability in networking with multiple actors, are
crucial.
Strong organizational skills, client
orientation, and an ability to work effectively in multicultural and
multidisciplinary teams
Should be familiar with local language
(preferred)
Conversant with computers and related
statistical software (SPSS, Excel, STATA, etc)
Capable of working with limited supervision
and self motivated
The Reward:
This is
a Locally Recruited Staff (LRS) position with an attractive and competitive

for 33 months, and extendable depending on performance of the incumbent and
