National Conference on Applications of data mining in management of metabolic and degenerative disorders

National Conference on Applications of data mining in management of metabolic and degenerative disorders (ADMMD '12)
16-18 april 2012
Amrita School of arts and Sciences, Mysore
Organized by: Department of Computer Science
Department of Computer Sciences, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham University, Mysore Campus is organizing a National Conference on “Applications of Data Mining in Management of Metabolic and Degenerative Disorders” on 16th to 18th April 2012 Sponsored by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
Data mining in biology and medicine is a core component of biomedical informatics, and one of the first intensive applications of computer science to this field, whether at the clinic, the laboratory, or the research center. Today’s biomedical data mining appears more multifaceted with advances in knowledge discovery in databases as well as machine learning approaches.
Modern medicine generates a great deal of information stored in the medical database. For example, medical data may contain MRIs, signals like ECG, clinical information like blood sugar, blood pressure, cholesterol levels, etc., as well as the physician's interpretation. Extracting useful knowledge and providing scientific decision-making for the diagnosis and treatment of disease from the database increasingly becomes necessary. Data mining in medicine can deal with this problem. It can also improve the management level of hospital information and promote the development of telemedicine and community medicine.
This inter-disciplinary conference will serve as a platform for computer science experts, researchers, neuroscientists, physicians, bioengineers, teachers and students to discuss various aspects of “Applications of Data Mining in Management of Metabolic and Degenerative Disorders”. The researchers will enlighten the participants in various aspects of management of metabolic disorders. It will serve as a critical and essential forum for integrating various research challenges in this domain and promote collaboration among researchers from academia, healthcare and industry to enhance the state-of-art and help define a clear path for future research in this emerging area.
TOPICS
The Scope of the conference includes, but not limited to:
•           Knowledge based medical recommendation models
•           Information visualization of medical data.
•           Pattern recognition in medical images and data.
•           Mining gene data bases and biological data bases
•           Knowledge extraction from electronic medical records
•           High-Content Analysis of Microscopic Images in Medicine, Biotechnology and Chemistry.
