POST:Scientific Officer – Legumes Pathology
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
· To provide scientific extension services related to transfer of improved pulse (chickpea) production and protection technologies to farmers.
· To develop required data sheets, data collection, data analysis and assist in preparing project reports.
· Carrying out tasks such as preparation of media, isolations and purification of target pathogens of chickpea, maintenance of their pure and viable cultures, maintaining inventories and conducting basic and applied investigations to devise their management strategies.
· Provide help and support to various on-going activities on the basic and applied research in the greenhouse and field environment experiments on legumes (chickpea) pathology.
· Providing scientific support to scientists in writing project reports, research articles and other related jobs from time to time.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
M.Sc. (Ag.) in Plant Pathology with 2-3 years of relevant experience; High skill of culturing, maintaining and increasing inoculum of fungal pathogens essential. The candidate must be highly motivated and have excellent computer and communication skills in English (both written and spoken); and ability to work in multidisciplinary team.

General: The position will initially be for a 2-year period, and renewable for a further period based on the performance of the incumbent and continuing need for the position.
