ICRISAT invites applications from Indian nationals for the post of Research Associate – Legumes Pathology to be based at Patancheru, Andhra Pradesh, India. This is a nationally recruited staff (NRS) position.
POST: Research Associate – Legumes Pathology
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Performing scientific extension services related to transfer of improved chickpea production technologies to farmers, data collection, data analysis and assist in report writing.
· Carrying out tasks such as preparation of media, isolations and purification of target pathogens of chickpea, maintenance of their pure and viable cultures, maintaining inventories and conducting basic and applied investigations to devise their management strategies.
· Provide help and support to various on-going activities in the glasshouse and field environment experiments on legumes (chickpea) pathology.
· Providing scientific support to scientists in writing project reports, research articles and other related jobs from time to time.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
· PhD in Plant Pathology/ Life sciences with 2-3 years of experience in fungal pathology.
· Good proficiency in English communication skills (both written and spoken) and an aptitude for research in host plant resistance and integrated disease management in plant pathology The knowledge of using latest biotechnological tools in molecular characterization of plant pathogens will be an additive advantage.
PERIOD AND REMUNERATION:
Fixed term contract basis for 3 years, renewable based on the performance of the incumbent and the Institute's continuing need for the position.
