RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Plan and organize seed processing and conservation activities;
•Seed germination and quality testing, viability monitoring, inventory on germplasm collections and seed sampling for planting and distribution, data collection and analysis, documentation;
•Upkeep of the seed lab, storage and special facilities of the unit;
•Assistance in seed conservation research and preparing reports
COMPETENCIES:
•Proficiency in English communication skills (both written and spoken);
•Proficiency in Computer skills (Ms- Office, data analysis);
•Should be a good team player and adaptable to working in multicultural team.
REQUIREMENTS:
•M.Sc in Agriculture with Seed Technology/Genetic Resources/Genetics and Plant Breeding or Botany.
•3 years of experience. Candidates with specialization in seed technology and exposure to handling similar activities in large seed testing laboratories preferred

ICRISAT invites applications for a Special Project Scientist (Breeding), to be based at its Regional Hub for Eastern and Southern Africa (ESA), Nairobi, Kenya.

Covering 6.5 million square kilometers of land in 55 countries, the semi-arid tropics is home to over 2 billion people, with 650 million of these the poorest of the poor. ICRISAT and its partners help empower those living in the semi-arid tropics, especially smallholder farmers, to overcome poverty, hunger, malnutrition and a degraded environment through more efficient and profitable agriculture. THE JOB:
•Plan Dryland Cereals (DC) on station and on farm trials and lead the development of research protocols
•Assist in genetic resources management activities for dryland cereals, and guide field technicians/ scientific officers on data collection and data management.
•Visit and advise collaborators in various target countries 
•Write project reports, publication of information in refereed and high impact journals
•Guide post graduate students in their thesis preparation
•Provide training on statistics, field experimentation, seed production  to national partners
•Support and participate in field days in the different countries
•Participate and/or  lead in developing project proposals for donor funding
THE PERSON: Phd in Plant breeding and/or genetics as major and minor in statistics, with 2-3 years of experience in experimental design, management of field trials and experience in handling large breeding datasets. Excellent computer skills and experience with GENSTAT, Agrobase, SAS or other statistical packages is essential. A good track record of publication in high impact journals with aptitude for field based crop research and good knowledge of sorghum and or millet will be an advantage. luency in spoken and written English is essential. Scientist should have aptitude to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team, including multicultural and multinational scientists, and should have the ability to interact with partner organizations. Knowledge and experience working in ESA region will be an advantage.
PERIOD AND REMUNERATION: The position is initially for three years and may be extended depending on requirement, funding availability, and performance of the incumbent. ICRISAT pays an attractive compensation package payable in US dollars.

ICRISAT is seeking applications from a dynamic and highly innovative scientist to undertake applied cereals genomics research in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team of scientists. The Principal Scientist (Internationally Recruited Staff) will be based at ICRISAT Headquarters near Greater Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India, working within the Research Program on Dryland Cereals.

The Job: To lead the application of genomics in ICRISAT’s dryland cereal crops, especially pearl millet and sorghum. The person will be expected to conduct research in an appropriate area of applied genomics and to work in close collaboration with other ICRISAT cereal scientists as well as biometrics and bioinformatics teams to effectively integrate the use of genomics technology in cultivar development efforts. Of particular interest is research on the adaptation of cereal crops to extreme climates.
THE RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
•Leading the development and application of genomics for use in ICRISAT’s global dryland cereal crop improvement research programs.
•Conducting relevant research in the development and use of genomic tools for gene identification, genome mapping and marker-assisted breeding in one or more of ICRISAT’s dryland cereal crops.
•Developing linkages and collaborative research projects with advanced research organizations, national agricultural research systems, universities and the private sector.
•Undertaking capacity building initiatives for stakeholders including policy makers to enhance the impact of genomics in rain-fed agriculture.
•Playing an active role in resource mobilization for ICRISAT.
THE PERSON:
•PhD degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Plant Biology, Plant Breeding, Genetics or other related field.
•At least 10 years of post-doctoral research experience in plant breeding, molecular genetics, genomics, molecular biology or marker-assisted breeding.
•A record of achievement with academic publications, development and management of research grants, and capacity building initiatives.
•Fluency in spoken and written English is essential, and knowledge of French will be an advantage.

The posts are purely temporary and will be filled on contractual basis initially for a period of one year but may be extended further based on the performance of the candidate or till the termination of the scheme/project. There is no provision of re-engagement. The Head, Division of Vegetable Science, IARI, New Delhi intends to recruit 2 posts of Senior Research Fellow (SRF) and one post of Jr. Research Fellow under the programme mentioned below purely on contractual/temporary basis.
PPV&FRA Funded Project: Development of Guidelines for the Conduct of Tests for Distinctiveness, Uniformity and Stability of (i) Onion, (ii) Chilli & Capsicum, and (iii) Leafy Vegetables.
NAME OF THE POST & NUMBER: Sr. Research Fellow- Two
Jr. Research Fellow- One
EMOLUMENTS (FIXED): Rs.16,000/- + HRA per month for SRF
Rs. 12,000/- + HRA per month for JRF
QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential: M.Sc. degree in Vegetable Science/Olericulture/ Horticulture/Plant Breeding/Botany/Seed Science with research work related to breeding/production technology of vegetable crops.
Desirable: Experience of conducting field trials; working experience in Computer Applications. NET qualifications.
AGE LIMIT: The upper age limit is 35 years for the above posts. Age relaxation to SC/ST/OBC (SC/ST & women - 5 years; OBC – 3 years) will be given as per Govt. of India instructions. The posts are purely temporary and will be filled on contractual basis initially for a period of one year but may be extended further based on the performance of the candidate or till the termination of the scheme/project. There is no provision of re-engagement. The selected candidate shall have no legal right to claim regularization by absorption or otherwise against any regular post or any further contractual engagement on termination of the Scheme/Project. Scientist/Senior Scientist (Pigeonpea Breeding) at ICRISAT, Hyderabad

POST: Scientist/Senior Scientist (Pigeonpea Breeding)
ICRISAT seeks applications from nationals from the Asian countries for Scientist/ Senior Scientist  (Pigeonpea Breeding), in Scientific and Managerial Group (SMG) Cadre, to be based at Patancheru, Andhra Pradesh, India.
THE JOB: Develop improved breeding lines and varieties of pigeonpea; plan and execute experiments in crop improvement; analyze, summarize, and interpret the data of the experiments; prepare reports and papers for publication in the reputed journals; prepare project proposals for donor funding; and interact with partners and collaborate with experts from other disciplines and end users (farmers, traders, consumers, etc.) to add value to the crop and enhance livelihood opportunities for the poor in the SAT.
THE PERSON: Scientists with PhD degree from a reputed university in plant breeding and/or genetics, with a minimum five years of post-doctoral experience as plant breeder/geneticist at a research institute/university/private sector company. Knowledge of quantitative genetics theory and its application in practical plant breeding of self-pollinated/cross-pollinated crops and basic computer skills is essential. Theoretical knowledge of hybrid breeding and marker-aided selection in crop improvement will be an additional desirable requirement. Fluency in spoken and written English is essential. Candidates should not be more than 40 years of age at the time of applying. The candidate should have aptitude to work as a member of interdisciplinary teams in multicultural environment, and should have the ability to interact with partner organizations.
THE REWARD: A competitive compensation will be paid for the assignment.  The position is initially for a 3-year fixed contract, but may be extended depending on requirement, funding availability, and performance of the incumbent.

POST: Research Associate (Molecular Breeding)
ICRISAT seeks applications from Indian nationals for the post of Research Associate (Molecular Breeding) to be based at Patancheru, Andhra Pradesh, India. This is a nationally recruited position.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential:
Master’s Degree in Botany/ Agril. Botany/ Plant Genetic Resources/Plant Breeding/Genetics/ Plant Physiology/ Agronomy/ Horticulture.
Candidate should be willing to work in remote areas of Udaipur district for the duration of the project.
Desirable
Candidate having aptitude and working experience in biodiversity, crop production and socio-economic surveys at community level.
TERMS & CONDITIONS:
1. Upper age limit for SRFs: 35 yrs for men and 40 yrs for women candidates. Age limits are relaxable for SC, ST and OBC candidates as per Govt. of India norms.
2. Only the candidates with 60% and above marks in M.Sc. are eligible to appear in the interview.
