1 Research Associate (Three) M.Sc / M.V.Sc / Ph.D (Any discipline of Dairy, Veterinary, Agricultural or Fishery Sciences and Botany )
2. Candidates with M.V. Sc degree, rural background and knowledge of Punjabi up to Matric level and who have cleared NET, will be preferred.
3. Preference will also be given to candidates having experience.
 JOB REQUIREMENTS:
The project is field oriented and incumbents would be required to undertake extensive touring of the beneficiary families in the villages of four blocks of Hoshiarpur District with its central point at Talwara. Research Associates would be required to provide technical guidance to the farmers by organizing training programmes and field camps, delivery of input services, collection and compilation of information to study the impact of technology transfer on improved productivity of livestock, income and employment generation.
 AGE LIMIT: Upper age limit is 40 years on the date of interview. Age relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST and women candidates and 3 years for OBC candidates is permissible.

Walk in interview is called for thepost of Senior Research Fellow under the research project entitled “Confirmation of lactation performance and animal safety of dairy animals of the Bos sp. and Bubalus sp.  ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
 1.    Second class B.V.Sc. & A.H./B.V.Sc degree with at least second division (OCPA/OGPA OF 2.00/4.00) OR 50% marks or equivalent.
2.     M.V.Sc. degree in any branch of veterinary or animal Sciences with at least 65% marks or an OCPA of 6.50 out of 10 or equivalent.
3.    Knowledge of Punjabi upto Matric level.

A. Two SRFs in a National Fund for Basic Strategic & Frontier Area of Agricultural Research (NFBSFARA) funded project entitled “RNAi mediated comparative functional analysis of immune response genes in ruminants and fish against Mycobacterium avium subspp. paratuberculosis and Mycobacterium fortuitum.”
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION: M. V. Sc./Ph. D (Animal Genetics/ Animal Biotechnology/ Animal Biochemistry/ Veterinary Microbiology) or M. Sc. / Ph.D. (Biotechnology/ Biochemistry/Microbiology/Bioinformatics).
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION: Working knowledge of Molecular Biology Techniques (DNA/RNA isolation, Cloning, Southern, Northern, Western blotting, Genomic and or cDNA library screening, ELISA, Bacterial culture, transformation, Real Time PCR and other relevant techniques) evident ONLY through dissertation work/ research publication.
B. One SRF and one Research Associate in an ICAR National Fellow funded project entitled “Development of transgenic goat as a bioreactor for producing novel proteins of therapeutic importance using Sperm-Mediated Gene transfer (SMGT) method”.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION: M. V. Sc./Ph. D (Animal Genetics & Breeding/ Animal Biotechnology/ Animal Biochemistry/ Veterinary Physiology) or M. Sc. / Ph.D. (Biotechnology/ Biochemistry).
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION: Working knowledge of Molecular Biology Techniques (DNA/RNA isolation, Cloning, Southern, Northern, Western blotting, Genomic and or cDNA library screening, ELISA, Bacterial culture, transformation, Real Time PCR and other relevant techniques) evident ONLY through dissertation work/ research publication.
C. GENERAL ESSENTIAL CONDITIONS COMMON FOR ALL THE POSITIONS:
Nature of job: The incumbent is expected to carry out a part of the project objectives independently and/ or to assist the Scientists and other Workers as there need be. The incumbent will also be essentially required to collect material from abattoir and biological samples from animals at odd hours.
TOTAL EMOLUMENTS: For SRF: @ Rs. 16000/- per month (I & II yr) & Rs. 18000/- per month (III yr and onwards); For RA: @ Rs. 23000/- and Rs 24000 per month for Masters and Ph. D degree holders.
 HRA admissible @ 20% as per ICAR norm.
AGE: Maximum 35 years(relaxable as per GOI rule)
TENURE AND CONDITION OF THE POSITION: The position is purely temporary and will be filled on contractual basis for a period of five years or completion (likely date of completion on March, 2014) / termination of the project which ever is earlier. There is no provision of rearrangement after termination of the project and IVRI/ ICAR will have NO liability, whatsoever, for this position. PI will have the exclusive right to terminate the RA due to unsatisfactory performance without assigning any reason.

Eligible candidates are invited to attend Walk-in-interview for two posts of Project Associate under DBT-TANUVAS partnership initiative on “TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH PLATFORM FOR VETERINARY BIOLOGICALS (TRPVB)” to be held on 22nd February 2012 at 11.00 A.M in the Department of Animal Biotechnology,Madras Veterinary College, Chennai – 600 007
The Vision of TRPVB is “To converge the presently distant research, industry and regulatory requirements to foster ‘productization’ in the field of Veterinary Vaccines and Diagnostics”
QUALIFICATIONS - ESSENTIAL: Doctorate (Ph. D.) or 3 years of research experience after M. V. Sc. / M. Pharm / M. Tech in the areas of molecular biology/cell biology, Vaccines or diagnostics development with at least two publications in international journals.
QUALIFICATIONS - DESIRABLE: Candidate should have hand on experience in one or all of the following techniques: cell culture, gene cloning and expression, fermentation technologies, development of lateral flow based diagnostics, microfluidics, nanotechnology, regulatory issues in animal vaccines and diagnostics and related areas
SALARY: Rs 35,000 (consolidated) per month for the first two years and Rs. 45,000/-for the next three years
DURATION: Five years. However, the performance of the candidate will be reviewed after the completion of every year and the salary will be renewed only upon satisfactory performance.
Maximum age limit is 40 years.
No TA/DA and official accommodation will be provided for appearing in the interview.
The posts are purely contractual and co-terminus with the project and having no provision for regularization.
The Overall Coordinator reserves the right to cancel / postpone the interview without assigning any reason thereof. He also reserves the right to terminate the contract, even before completion of the project for which no appeal thereof shall be made.
Candidates are required to bring the original copies of all relevant documents,
certificates and mark sheets along with an application in plain paper with full bio-data along with passport size photograph. Two recommendation letters in sealed envelope out of which one should be from Ph. D supervisor / recent employer should also be submitted.
A written exam consisting of Objective type questions in the areas of molecular biology, vaccine and diagnostics would be held for duration of one hour followed by oral interview.
The qualifying candidates are expected to start working within 1-2 weeks from the selection date.

FOR THE FIRST RANK HOLDERS QUALIFIED FOR DOCTORAL RESEARCH IN ANY RECOGNISED UNIVERSITY IN INDIA, Innovation in Scientific Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE), A NEW SCHEME OF THE GOVERNMENT OF INDIA, OFFERS STANDING OPPORTUNITY THROUGH FELLOWSHIPS AT THE LEVEL SAME AS NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY TEST QUALIFIED CANDIDATES.

The Department of Science & Technology (DST), New Delhi requests submission of Application for “INSPIRE Fellowship” to pursue doctoral degree under Assured Opportunity for Research Careers (AORC) - a component of the `Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE)’ being implemented by DST.
Genesis of INSPIRE: Global competitiveness in the changing global knowledge economy calls for expansion and right-sizing of the Research and Development base of the country. Need for special interventions for attracting youth to study of Sciences and careers with Research is recognized. Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) is a Program launched by the Government of India to strengthen the National Science and Technology base.
It is being implemented by the Department of Science and Technology (DST).
About INSPIRE: Program includes three components namely Scheme for Early Attraction of Talents for Science (SEATS), Scholarships for Higher Education (SHE) and Assured Opportunity for Research Careers (AORC). The Scheme AORC is focused on attraction of student to pursue doctoral degree in basic and applied sciences including engineering, medicine, agriculture, veterinary, pharmacy etc. after either masters’ degree in science or bachelor/ masters’ degree in engineering/ applied sciences.
CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: Applications are invited from the eligible candidate for `INSPIRE Fellowships’ under Assured Opportunity for Research Careers (AORC) component of INSPIRE Program.
ELIGIBILITY: Only 1st rank holder in each Post-Graduate (PG) level examinations in Basic/Natural Sciences, Engineering Sciences, Medical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Sciences at the University and academic Institutions who are eligible for admission and want to pursue research, leading to Ph.D., in any Indian University/ National Institute/ National laboratories in India will be eligible for this fellowship. 1st Rank holder in College examination are not eligible.
Similarly, 1st Rank holders at Under-Graduate level examination in Engineering Sciences and other Professional courses conducted by a University/ Institution in India are also eligible to apply for directly pursuing doctoral degree.
Candidates acquired their required qualifications necessary for admission to the PhD program on and after April 2007 are only eligible. However, students who are already enjoying Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) or higher position need not to apply for this.
Candidates who have qualified Joint CSIR-UGC National Eligibility Test for fellowship/ GATE can also apply.
This fellowship is applicable to the Indian Nationals only.
The Fellowship: The Program extends financial support in the form of a fellowship equivalent to NET/ GATE fellowship (Junior Research Fellowship / Senior Research Fellowship) and grants for research to the candidates.
DURATION OF THE SUPPORT: Selected candidates will receive fellowship for a maximum period of five years, subject to the completion of the PhD degree whichever is earlier. Continuation of the fellowship for once selected candidates is based on satisfactory performance certified by the institution as per stipulated GOI guidelines for such fellowship.
SELECTION PROCEDURE: The candidates will be selected purely on the basis of merit.
FORMAT FOR APPLICATION: All interested and eligible candidates must apply in the prescribed A4 size format along with documents as listed in the Annexure 1 to 3.
