We are in search of enthusiastic and self-motivated candidates for the position of two Senior Research Fellow on contract basis, to join a challenging project that is aimed at creating a value chain business model in small pelagics and fresh water fisheries sector, involving production, processing and marketing for the socio-economic upliftment of the fisher folk in respective sectors.
VACANCY
The interview is being conducted to fill the present vacancies of two Senior Research Fellow on contract basis for a period of 2012 January - 2012 June. The project may be extended upto June 30, 2014. However, a panel of candidates may be prepared based on suitability as decided by the interview board after assessing the qualification and performance during interview to fill up vacancies under the project that may arise in future. Validity of the panel will be one year from the date of interview. The panel of candidates will be published in the website.
1) SENIOR RESEARCH FELLOW (2POST)
FELLOWSHIP: Rs 16000/- + 20 % HRA
QUALIFICATION: Masters Degree in Food and nutrition /Mechanical Engineering/ /industrial fisheries/ Fisheries.
AGE LIMIT: 35 years for men and 40 years for women
DESIRABLE
• Experience in harvest/ post harvest areas of fisheries, Marketing, Implementation of field level project; Marine field; Design and operation of mechanical machinery; simulation.
• Excellent computer documentation & analytical skills.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
The National Agriculture Innovation project titled “Responsible Harvesting and Utilisation of Selected Small Pelagics and Freshwater Fishes” aims to develop a value chain model of production to consumption system in fisheries with focus on resource and energy conservation, to be emulated by the industry. We envisage a multi fold improvement in profitability and employment generation through product diversification, efficient resource utilization and innovative marketing strategies. The strategy adopted is one of operational research and R&D efforts in fishing, pre-processing, processing and marketing segments. This project aims to address the ring sine fishery of south west cost, the dol net fishery of North West cost and the freshwater fishery. The project is divided into three levels viz. production, processing and marketing
Production: This level consists of construction, maintenance and operation of fishing system; fishing operations; fuel saving technologies onboard fishing vessels; innovative technologies for bulk drying and onboard handling and storage for cost effective and responsible harvesting.
Processing: This level deals with preparation of value added products ensuring nutritional value, waste minimization and quality enhancement.
Marketing: The marketing level deals with innovative marketing strategies, market information system, and demand forecasting and employment generation through post harvesting clustering and retailing facilitation.
WHAT IS EXPECTED OF THE CANDIDATES
• Planning and carrying out research in assigned fields and organizing workshops/seminars/awareness programs.
• Taking part in knowledge-transfer activities, including collaborative meeting with stake holders and other research groups
• Compiling regular reports on the project
• Ability to work in a challenging and multi-tasking environment to meet deadlines.
• High level of interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a project team.
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR CANDIDATES
1. Applications should be submitted, in the application format appended, affixed by a latest passport size photograph, on the day of interview.
2. Age relaxation of 3 year for OBC candidates and 5 years for SC/ST candidates is permissible. The candidates should note that the date of birth should be as recorded in the matriculation/school leaving certificate or an equivalent certificate and no subsequent request for its change will be considered / granted.
3. Candidates are required to submit attested copies of all the certificates in support of their claims along with the filled in application at time of interview. The original certificates shall be produced for verification before the interview.
4. The candidates attending the interview should ensure that they fulfill all the eligibility conditions.
5. Selected candidates will recruited on contract basis under ICAR norms. The posts are purely temporary and are conterminous with the project. The project may be extended up to 2014 June.
6. No TA/DA will pay to attend the interview.
7. The CIFT’s decision will be final and binding in all aspects regarding the selection to the post.
