OBJECTIVES

1. To acquaint the participants with the basic background and recent developments in transcriptomics, proteomics and structural biology.

2. To expose the participants with relevant demonstrations and hands-on* experience.

COURSE CONTENTS

The workshop has been designed to expose the participants in transcriptome analysis (microarray data analysis), details of proteomics and basic

concepts of structural biology (crystallography). International and national experts will expose the participants in different aspects of the theme areas. Hand on practical training on 2D proteomics will be provided to the participants. The workshop will be covered by lectures and demonstrations on the following areas:

•Introduction to transcriptomics and gene expression analysis (microarray).

•Concept and scope of Proteomics

•High throughput proteomics and Mass Spectrometry

•Analysis of MS data using search engines: concepts

•1-D and 2-D gel electrophoresis

•Image analysis of protein gels

•Differential-in-Gel analysis (DIGE)

•Analysis of proteome data

•Introduction to protein structure determination

•Basic concepts and recent developments on protein crystallography

ELIGIBILITY

This Workshop is targeted at enhancing capabilities of Scientists / Faculties working in ICAR Institutes, CAUs, SAUs, and in various NAIP Sub-Projects, who are working and want to enhance their knowledge in the theme area of the workshop. Candidates from Non-ICAR Institutes may also apply for the workshop. Research Associates / Post Doctoral Fellows / Ph. D scholars will be considered if sufficient number of candidates will not be available. Genuinely interested candidates may kindly register for the training programme by sending the filled in registration form forwarded through proper channel on or before 20th January 2011 positively. A brief bio-data may kindly be sent along with the registration form.

TRAVEL AND ACCOMODATION

Selected participants will be paid for the journey by train to-and-fro (restricted to the maximum AC II tier fare) by the shortest route from source to destination station. Participants are required to produce original photocopies of the tickets in support of their claim. Expenses on lodging and boarding arrangements for the participants will be borne by the organizers.
