POST: Fixed-term (5 years) Professorship with srw Medical Molecular Microbiology
The University seeks to appoint a professor with special duties within medical molecular microbiology to the Department of International Health, Immunology and Microbiology to commence as soon as possible. The post is for a fixed-tem period (5 years). At the end of the 5-year period of employment, the professor is secured an employment and remuneration as associate professor.

 JOB DESCRIPTION
In considering applications for the professorship, the main emphasis will be on the applicant´s ability to document a high level of original scientific production on an international level within the area of medical molecular microbiology.
 The successful applicant performs research within the area of biofilm biology, with special emphasis on molecular mechanisms involved in biofilm formation of opportunistic pathogenic bacteria, and the use of such knowledge in a chemical biology approach to control biofilms for the benefit of human health. The professorship includes professional development, including participation in the scientific development of the subject area, research education, educational guidance and supervision of assistant and associate professors, as well as assessment of scientific work. Furthermore, the appointed professor may be assigned tasks within the general objectives of the institution. In particular, the appointee is expected to play a significant role in the strategically effort to promote basic biofilm research and strengthen its impact on dentistry. The University will determine the specific distribution between the different tasks, and the weighting of the different tasks may vary over time.
 The professor´s duties will primarily consist of:
           research, including obligations with regard to publication/scientific communication
           research leadership as well as educational guidance and supervision of junior researchers
           research-based teaching  with associated examination duties
           communicate (research) knowledge to the public
           professional assessment work

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
The appointee should have qualifications within the following areas:
           ability to demonstrate a high degree of original scientific production on an international level and a significant contribution to the development of the biofilm biology discipline
           ability to provide research-based teaching
           ability to be in charge of research and other management functions as well as communicate (research) knowledge  to the public
 The Professor is also required to be enterprising and to possess good interpersonal skills.
 TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salaries and other terms and conditions of appointment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant professional organization. The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2007.
