PhD scholarship(ATP Signalling in Pancreas) at University of Copenhagen

POSITION: PhD scholarship in ATP Signalling in Pancreas
The Section for Molecular Integrative Physiology, Department of Biology, University of Copenhagen, is recruiting one PhD student for a project starting February 2012 or soon thereafter.
 The PhD project is dedicated to study the role of extracellular ATP signalling and communication in pancreas. The PhD-student will study ATP release mechanisms and interactions between different cells in pancreas under physiological and pathophysiological conditions as models of pancreatitis and diabetes. The PhD stipend is co-financed and will be attached to the Epithelial Signalling Group headed by Professor Ivana Novak.
 We search a highly motivated individual with M.Sc. degree in biology, human biology, molecular biomedicine, biochemistry, medicine or pharmacology. Previous experience in cell and molecular biology, tissue cultures, bioimaging and integrative studies on animal models is advantageous. Fluency in spoken and written English is a strong requirement.
 An assessment committee will be appointed to evaluate the applications. The final selection of a successful candidate will be made by the Head of Department, based on the recommendations of the evaluation committee. The successful candidates will then be requested to formally apply for enrolment as PhD student at the PhD school of Science, University of Copenhagen.
 Terms of appointment and payment are in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Federation of Professional Associations (AC). The starting salary for candidates with an MSc degree will be a minimum of DKK 300.174 per year (April 2010 level) plus pension contribution DKK 41.013 and the possibility to negotiate wage.
