Group Leader (Infection Immunobiology) at HKI, Germany

POST: GROUP LEADER (INFECTION IMMUNOBIOLOGY)

v  The Friedrich Schiller University, Jena and the Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology – Hans Knöll Institute (HKI)– are establishing a joined Junior Research Group Infection Immunobiology and invite applications for the group leader position. Research in the group should focus on the interaction of immune effector cells with human-pathogenic fungi or on related questions of cellular infection immunobiology.
v  Thorough knowledge of RNAi manipulation of host cells is expected in order to elucidate the significance of host specific factors in infection defense. Participation in the graduate schools in Jena such as ILRS, JSMC and other collaborative research programmes on the infection biology of human-pathogenic fungi is desired.
v  We are seeking an excellent, highly motivated scientist with a PhD in biology, biochemistry or the life sciences. Comprehensive experience with modern laboratory methods in immunobiology, molecular biology, cell biology and various “omics” technologies as well as a good command of the English language is required.
v  International experience (e.g. as postdoc) is advantageous. The junior research group is structurally integrated into the Friedrich Schiller University Jena (FSU) and situated at the Hans Knöll Institute (HKI) as an independent research unit. Funding for personnel, equipment and consumables will be provided for a period of five years.
v  The full-time position is available for a period of five years. After two years, an intermediary evaluation will be carried out. Salary will be paid up to salary group 15 according to the regulations of the salary agreement for public service employees (TV-L) depending on the applicant’s personal qualifications.
