POST: Fund Raising Specialist
RESPONSIBILITIES
•Develop, manage and implement a South Asia fund raising strategy to increase extramural funding by at least USD 250,000 after one year and USD 1.5 Million after 2 years;
•This responsibility will include developing and implementing a plan of action to:
■market the message and brand ICRISAT to a range of investors and individuals outside of the CGIAR system;
■optimize recurrent income on ICRISAT’s assets, e.g. property and its associated legal and financial instruments to ensure continuous flow of income/funds to finance its research;
■maximize the benefits of interactions between ICRISAT, the Government of India and with the private sector at the highest levels; and
■establish ICRISAT’s “Development Institute” to capitalize on the opportunities  afforded by developments in agriculture, education, food and industrial  sectors in sub-Saharan Africa and the role that the Government of India  and the Indian private sector can play in such developments;
•Further developing and managing cordial relations with the Government of India, State Governments, private funding agencies and foundations/charitable trusts outside the CGIAR System to mobilize funds and in-kind resources; •Manage a comprehensive database of potential funders and submit proposals for funding; •Prepare an ‘Events Calendar’ and implement  the fund-raising events; •Promote the IS-SI Program.
DESIRED CANDIDATE’S PROFILE
■Minimum 5-10 years of work experience in target-based fund raising and donor management and proven ability to turn business opportunities into reality;
■PhD  or Master’s degree in Economics or Business Management, or a Civil Servant from the Indian Administrative Service or State Service;
■Proven ability to work with a varied donor base, for example, multinational corporations, funding agencies, and foundations and should have existing network of donors and investors;
■A team player with strong collaborative experience working with a broad range of stakeholders and is excited by work in multi-cultural teams;
■Excellent networking and interpersonal competencies;
■Highly innovative, energetic with demonstrated contributions in fund raising campaigns;
■Proficiency and hands-on in computer applications to promote and mobilize resources;
•Excellent in English (both spoken and written); proficiency in another language is an added advantage.
THE REWARD
This is an internationally recruited staff position with an attractive and competitive salary and benefits package payable in US dollars. The position is initially for three years and extendable depending on the performance of the incumbent and funding availability.
