RA/SRF/JRF post(Biodiversity assessment and bioprospection of lichens ) at Yogi Vemana University

Applications are invited for the following temporary positions from the eligible candidates in the research project entitled “BIODIVERSITY ASSESSMENT AND BIOPROSPECTION OF LICHENS IN RAYALASEEMA FORESTS OF ANDHRA PRADESH, INDIA”  funded by the CSIR, Project sanction letter No. 60(0100)/11/EMR-II, dated 12th January 2012. In collaboration with Dr. Sanjeeva Nayaka, Scientist, Lichenology Laboratory, National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI-CSIR) Rana Pratap Marg, Lucknow - 226001, U.P., India.
POSITION: Research Associate/ Senior Research Fellow/Junior Research Fellow

ESSENTIAL  QUALIFICATION: For RA-Ph.D. in Botany / Environmental Sciences.
For SRF: Post Graduate Degree in Botany with 2 years research experience
For JRF: Post Graduate Degree in Botany
 Essential: Experience in forestry oriented field work/ knowledge in lichen collection, preservation and bioprospection.
FELLOWSHIP: As per CSIR guidelines
The work involves extensive and intensive field work in the Rayalaseema forests of Andhra Pradesh to work on Biodiversity assessment and bioprospection of lichens. The tenure of the project personnel shall be for a period of three years. The engagement of research fellow is co-terminus of the project and deployment of man power at the time of completion or termination of the project will not be the concern / responsibility of the Government of India/ State Government/ or the host university.

The Department of Biology, Faculty of Science & Engineering invites applications for a tenure-track position in the area of Environmental Biology at the Assistant Professor level. The start date is July 1, 2012.
Applications are welcomed from individuals whose proposed research programs compliment and extend existing research activities in the department, particularly (but not limited to) the areas of climate change, invading species, multiple stressors and ecotoxicology. Emphasis for all candidates will be on research excellence.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in Biology or a related field, post-doctoral (or equivalent) experience and an outstanding research record, and will be expected to develop a strong, externally-funded research program, contribute to teaching biology-related courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels and supervise graduate students. The successful candidate must be eligible for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
