National
Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, Research Triangle Park, NC
A postdoctoral fellowship is
immediately available at NIH / National Institute of Environmental Health
Sciences located in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, to participate in
an ongoing research program investigating the role of environmental and genetic
factors in the development of Parkinson's disease and other age-related chronic
diseases.
Current work involves several
large prospective cohorts, for example, the NIH-AARP Diet and Health Study (http://dietandhealth.cancer.gov/parkinsons.html
). In addition to etiological research on risk factors for Parkinson's disease,
we are studying Parkinson's premotor symptoms (e.g. poor sense of smell and
depression), which may help us to diagnose the disease early and to understand
its early etiology.
REQUIREMENTS:
We welcome all applicants with a
background in epidemiology. We are particularly interested in candidates with a
background in genetic epidemiology and/or research on premotor symptoms.
Candidates should have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree.
NIH offers excellent salary and
health care packages to its trainees. NIEHS has consistently been ranked among
the best places to work for postdoctoral fellows. The position will remain open
until filled.
