POST: PostDoctoral Fellow(Molecular Biology, Experimental
Neuropathology, Immunohistology and Autoradiography)
There are currently timely no
cell culture model(s) that can duplicate the complex physiological and chemical
processes associated with HIV associated neuronal degeneration. Our laboratory
is interested in understanding the pathophysiology underlying neuronal
dysfunction in HIV infected patient. The incumbent will serve as a team member
responsible for characterizing the degree of neuropathology in a noninfectious
animal model of HIV (HIV-1 transgenic rat) by analysis of inflammatory and
biological markers of disease.
The applicant should be able to
work well with others as well as independently.
REQUIREMENTS:
Basic qualifications include a
doctorate degree from an accredited college/university in the Biological
Sciences (e.g. Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology) and a minimum of
2-4 years' experience in industry/academia in the following areas:
■Neuropathology, immunohistology
■Autoradiography
■Molecular biology techniques
including cell culture, DNA, RNA and protein isolation, Western and immunoassay
analysis, qPCR array profiling, qPCR array analysis
■Animal handling
Preferred qualifications include
strong computer skills, image processing, the ability to work independently in
a cross-disciplinary setting, and skills to support quantitative analysis of
experimental data.
