OBJECTIVE

“National Genomic Resources Repository” the latest endeavor of ICAR in the field of genetic resources conservation is being commissioned at NBPGR, New Delhi. Apart from research and service, the  Repository aims at human resources development and awareness generation among peers in NARS about the conservation and utilization of genomic resources.

SCOPE

i) Imparting of theoretical knowledge on technical, legal and implementation aspects of genomic resources conservation

ii) Hands-on demonstration on generation and conservation of genomic resources

HOW TO APPLY?

Eligible Scientists/Researchers should apply through their organizations in the enclosed format. The duly filled applications should be sent to Course Director, National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources, Pusa Campus, New Delhi 110 012 to reach on or before 5th March 2012.

THEME OF THE CONFERENCE

Natural products play a key role in chemistry as well as in biology. The compounds isolated from the natural source have supported for the evaluation of chemistry being challenging target molecules for synthesis as well as versatile starting materials for asymmetric synthesis. In this process, several novel synthetic methodologies and strategies have been developed. Besides, they served as handy tools to biological sciences in understanding the modulation of biological pathways, which can provide novel drug targets for disease management. The chemistry and biology together play a pivotal role in the development of affordable drugs for the Human Healthcare. The conference presentations focus on the novel developments taking place in the frontiers of natural products isolation, synthesis and biology with relevance to drug discovery. This conference is also aimed at bringing the knowledge of Industry and Akademi together. It provides a platform that enables the Academicians, Scientists and Researchers from Pharma Industries for useful interactions and fruitful collaborations in chemistry and biology

Symposium will be held from August 2-4, 2012 at CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad.

JRF/SRF/RA post(Regulation of heat shock proteins in D. melanogaster) at Delhi University, New Delhi

Research Position in Evolutionary Biology

One JRF/SRF/RA position is available under CSIR sponsored project (37(1495)/11/EMR-II) entitled “Regulation of heat shock proteins in Drosophila melanogaster populations simultaneously selected for faster pre-adult development and late reproduction”. The salary/fellowship would be fixed as per CSIR as well as University of Delhi norms. The appointment will be for an initial period of 6 months and may be extended on an annual basis till the termination of the project (March 2015), subject to satisfactory progress of the candidate. The candidates are required to attend an interview at the Department of Zoology, University of Delhi, North Campus, at their own cost. No TA/DA will be provided for attending the interview. Selection as JRF/SRF in this project does not entitle the candidate for a Ph.D. position in DU. The position is purely temporary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (AS PER THE CSIR NORMS): Candidate should have completed MSc/BE/BTech or equivalent degree, with 55% marks and should have qualified in the CSIR-UGC NET/GATE test. In addition,knowledge of handling Drosophila fly populations would be desirable.
