DURATION:Initial 8 months Special Service
Agreement contract (with possibility of subsequent annual extensions subject to
satisfactory service and availability of funds).
LEVEL: G3-VII (ZAR 13,235.00 monthly
take home)
DATE REQUIRED: As soon as possible
DUTY STATION: Cape Town, South Africa
DUTIES: Under the supervision of the
Group Leader of the Cancer Cell Molecular Biology laboratory, the incumbent
will assist the scientists of the laboratory by performing the following
duties:
- maintaining the laboratory in a
clean, safe and ordered condition;
- assist the Group Leader in the
research activities of the different projects of the group;
- be responsible for the storage
of delicate experimental material, such as enzymes, bacterial strains and cell
lines;
- general technical laboratory
work: maintaining solution stocks, bacterial strains and instrumentation;
- assist from the technical point
of view new PhD students and postdoctoral fellows at the beginning of their
fellowships in order to facilitate their assimilation in the laboratory;
- perform other any duties as may
be required;
QUALIFICATIONS: At least a BSc (honours) degree
or equivalent and previous experience in laboratory work.
