ROLE OF CYTOKINES IN MAINTENANCE OF STEM/PROGENITOR CELL CHARACTERISTICS
NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF DIABETES AND DIGESTIVE AND KIDNEY DISEASES, BETHESDA, MD 
A postdoctoral position is available in the Molecular Cell Biology Section of the Molecular Medicine Branch, NIDDK, to study the role of cytokines in maintaining stem/progenitor cell characteristics including cytoprotection and metabolic response during stress. Emphasis is on transcriptional regulation, proliferation/differentiation, stress/ischemic response and glucose metabolism/obesity. The laboratory is particularly interested in multi-tissue response to erythropoietin including hematopoietic, neuronal, muscle, endothelial, fat and other stem/progenitor cells and IPS cells.
Requirements:
Motivated candidates must have a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree and less than 5 years postdoctoral experience, and demonstrated skills in conducting experiments involving molecular biology and use of mouse models. Applicant must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

QUALIFICATION: MD/Ph.D in Social Sciences, Community Medicine or related discipline
DESIRABLE: One year experience in survey based research. Working knowledge of Statistical analysis software like Epi.Info, SPSS etc. Proficient in FGD, in-depth interview and data analysis/report preparation
AGE LIMIT:18-35 years
No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
