Clinical Center,
Bethesda, MD and surrounding area
Our clinical team uses an integrative medicine approach to
provide supportive care to patients in intramural research protocols at the NIH
Clinical Center (please see http://www.cancer.gov/ncicancerbulletin/032310/page6
for background information). The core of this integrative approach is
based on reducing noxious subjective experiences (e.g., pain, nausea) and
increasing patients' adaptive responses (e.g., subjective healing, personal
change). The research focus will be on development of questionnaires for
predictive assessment, progress assessment, and outcome assessment of patients'
adaptive responses based on prior research of highly successful adaptation.
Final success will be determined by unsolicited routine questionnaire use by
our clinical staff - not solely by statistical validation in research. First
tasks will include amendment of our active subjective healing protocol for this
next phase of research.
Requirements:
The
successful candidate will have a PhD degree relevant to integrative medicine.
Prior experience in assessment instrument development is highly desirable, and
credentialing in patient care is strongly preferred. US citizenship is not
required but proficiency in English is essential.
