The Center for Cardiovascular Genomics (CCVG) of the National
Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) at the National Institutes of Health
invites applications for a Post-Doctoral IRTA/Fellow position. We seek a highly
motivated, creative and bright individual, to work with senior scientists from
the Framingham Heart Study (FHS) and NHLBI. The FHS is collecting unparalleled
amounts of genetic, RNA, epigenetic, proteomic and metabolomic data in
thousands of people to identify the genomics of risk factors for cardiovascular
disease and its treatments. In addition to the analysis of these data, we work
in internationally collaborative teams to validate results, as well as
developing and releasing high quality applications that facilitate genomics
research.
Requirements:
Applicants must have an M.D. and/or Ph.D. and demonstrated
research experience relevant to one or more of these multiple disciplines.
Prior training in statistical genetics, genomics, computational biology,
bioinformatics, or systems biology is required. Experience in population
research, large data analysis (e.g., whole genome or whole transcriptome
sequencing) and a proven track record of publications are all highly desirable.
Programming experience in one or more of the following desired: R, Perl,
Python, Ruby, Unix, SAS. Background in Cardiovascular disease, Pharmacogenetics
or Gene expression research viewed favorably.
The successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary
commensurate with experience and qualifications. The initial appointment will
be for a minimum of 2 years, with possible appointment renewals in 1-year
increments. Appointees must be US citizens, resident aliens, or nonresident
aliens with a valid employment visa.
