POST: PostDoctoral Curriculum
Fellow in Biological Chemistry and
Molecular Pharmacology
Harvard Medical School's
Curriculum Fellows Program and the Department of Biological Chemistry and
Molecular Pharmacology (BCMP) are pleased to announce a post-doctoral
Curriculum Fellow position. This Fellowship is designed for early career
scientist-teachers who are interested in an academic pathway involving teaching
in the biomedical and biological sciences.
The focus of the fellowship will
be the development of graduate-level curriculum in the biomedical sciences,
with an emphasis on biochemistry, molecular biology and structural biology. The
fellow will work with a team of faculty to manage and innovate in the first-year
course in molecular biology offered by members the Department of BCMP. The
fellow will also be given the opportunity to develop new courses with faculty
at Harvard Medical School, Harvard University, and the Harvard-affiliated
teaching hospitals in Boston. In addition to curriculum development, the fellow
will participate in teaching small groups and lectures for graduate students,
grant writing, and educational scholarship. Importantly, this position is also
meant as a training opportunity in science education; thus, the fellow will
receive mentorship and career advising to support his or her progress as an
educator throughout the duration of the
appointment.
REQUIREMENTS:
Qualified individuals will have
earned a Ph.D. in molecular biology, biochemistry, structural biology, or a
closely related area by the time of their appointment. The successful applicant
will have had prior experience or demonstrated interest in teaching, and must
have outstanding writing and organizational skills, demonstrated capacity for
independence and innovation, and the ability to work as part of a team. The
appointment is for a maximum of three years, and is non-tenure-track.
The position will begin no later
than July 1, 2012, at Harvard Medical School in Boston.
