International Symposium on 'Cancer Genomics and Its Impact in the Clinics'

International Symposium on 'Cancer Genomics and Its Impact in the Clinics'

 About IACR 2012
ACTREC (formerly Cancer Research Institute) which is celebrating its 60th anniversary, is hosting the 31st Annual Convention of Indian Association for Cancer Research (IACR) and an International Symposium on 'Cancer Genomics and Its Impact in the Clinics' from 26 - 29 January 2012. We have put together a strong scientific program highlighting both basic and clinical aspects of cancer research. Eminent scientists and clinicians from India and abroad have been invited to join us at this convention.

The theme is to keep pace with the rapid advancement of genome wide studies, and consequent emergence of molecular profiling and subtyping of the patient population that is most likely to respond to targeted therapies. The conference will be of relevance to researchers and clinicians: those involved in treatment of primary and metastatic cancer, and in discovery and validation of modern molecular profiling techniques for diagnosis and prognosis.
Our one-of-its kind four-day format of the event is set to accommodate and enhance the opportunity for representatives from various Institutes to meet and strategize future scientific collaborations. In addition, the meeting will stimulate interaction between the clinician and basic scientists to ensure that the knowledge gained from basic biology is transferred to clinical practice. The meeting will include several sessions on specialized topics by invited speakers, short contributed papers and poster presentations.
The goal of the 31st Annual Convention of IACR and International Symposium would specifically focus on molecular profiling of gene expresion and protein to classify clinically heterogenous cancers, derive predictors of tumor progression, differentiate between potentially metastatic disease and indolent cases, predict response to therapy, recurrence, survival etc. The impact of molecular profiling on cancer studies is set to increase further with increasing use of bioinformatic tools and has facilitated inter-study and inter-platform comparisons of molecular signatures of tumors.
With great enthusiasm, the Organizing Committee and the host institute ACTREC invite all including graduate students and post doctoral fellows to submit abstracts and participate in this meeting and build upon the success of the past IACR Conventions.
