POST: Manager, Soil and Plant Analytical Laboratory
ICRISAT seeks applications from Indian nationals for the positions of Manager, Soil and Plant Analytical Laboratory, as part of a continuing expansion in the institute’s commitment to the development and use of watershed technology. These positions are based at Patancheru, Andhra Pradesh.
ICRISAT is one of the members of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). CGIAR is a global partnership that unites organizations engaged in research for sustainable development with the funders of this work. The funders include developing and industrialized country governments, foundations, and international and regional organizations. The work they support is carried out by 15 members of the Consortium of International Agricultural Research Centers, in close collaboration with hundreds of partner organizations, including national and regional research institutes, civil society organizations, academia, and the private sector. RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinate collection of soil and plant samples from field experimental sites, their processing and analysis of data and detailed documentation. Excellent skills and knowledge of the process of soil and plant samples collection from the strategic research as well as farmers’ participatory research trials.
DESIRED CANDIDATE’S PROFILE: The candidate should be MSc in analytical chemistry, with at least 15 years of experience in handling analytical laboratory and field experimentation in the area of soil fertility and balanced nutrient management in well reputed research institution. Graduate with 20 years of relevant experience may also be considered. He/she must be well versed with the recent analytical methods and handling of state of the art equipments such as ICP, AAS, Auto analyser, C and N analyser, microwave, etc. Knowledge about computer operation, statistical analysis of data, and interpretation of soil and plant analysis data is essential. Experience at supervisory level in analytical laboratory and on-farm trials will be preferred and person must be a good team player.
THE REWARD: These positions are in the scientific and managerial group of ICRISAT, with a competitive salary and benefits package paid in Indian rupees, which includes attractive perquisites. These positions are for an initial three year period, and may be extended depending on requirement, funding availability and performance of the incumbent.
