1. POST: Research Associate / Postdoctoral Fellow (Dr. Shahid Jameel’s lab)
PROJECT TITLE: The role of miRNAs in the pathogenesis of HIV/AIDS and their utility as biomarkers of disease progression and therapy failure
QUALIFICATIONS: A PhD in any branch of modern biology from a reputed institution plus evidence of prior experience in at least any two of the following.
• Virus infection in a cell culture model
• Advanced cloning, mutagenesis, mammalian cell culture, transfection and expression analysis methods (Real-time PCR)
• Work with miRNAs or other small noncoding RNAs
• Confocal microscopy and live cell imaging
• Advanced bioinformatics and systems analysis
2. POST: Postdoctoral Fellow / Research Assistant (Dr. Kaja Murali-Krishna’s lab; ICGEB-Emory Joint Vaccine Centre)
PROJECT TITLE: Human immunology and vaccine research program
QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in any branch of modern biology from a reputed institution. Evidence of prior knowledge and a strong research experience in at least two of the following:
• Molecular biology
• Immunology
• Infectious diseases
• Tissue culture
A strong drive, knowledge, enthusiasm and commitment to pursue cutting edge research in human immunology related to vaccines and infectious diseases is important. Experience in human immunology is also desirable but not necessary.
Other expectations: The selected candidates must be able to commit for the entire 3-year duration of the projects. They will also be expected to participate in various scientific activities such as group meetings, journal club, etc., assist the Principal Investigator in preparation of reports and occasionally mentor research trainees.
SALARY: These are project positions and will therefore have fixed remuneration provided by the funding agency. It will be commensurate with training and experience of the selected candidate.
