To assist the IRRI postharvest team and project partners in the conduction of collecting samples in markets, mycotoxin experiments and analysis of samples and contribute to the development of a mycotoxin reduction strategy. The duration of this project will be 12 months.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist in developing mycotoxin detection techniques that are applicable at farmers’ fields
• Assist in conducting experiments at IRRI using appropriate experimental design and statistical analysis
• Assist in developing a mycotoxin reduction strategy
• Take samples in selected markets and analyze samples taken in the markets in laboratory trials
• Contribute to data analysis and reporting
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
• MS or BS in Plant Pathology, Microbiology, or Food technology
• 4 years demonstrated working experience in related fields
• Written and spoken English

Applications are invited from qualified individuals for the following positions, sponsored by the DBT project entitled “Identification of miRNAs essential for B cell fate commitment of multipotent hematopoietic progenitors” (BT/PR1825/AGR/36/679/2011).

Dr. Pongubala’s laboratory is investigating the molecular pathways that control the development of innate and adaptive immune cell types utilizing a combination of genetic, molecular and computational approaches. Responsibility of the research specialist is to take care of daily needs of the laboratory where as the project-JRF candidate is expected to study the functional role of recently identified novel miRNAs during B cell fate commitment.
Applicants for project-JRF should have a M.Sc. or Integrated Masters (I.M.Sc.) in Biological Sciences with a strong background in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology from a reputed University. Candidates must have secured aggregate marks greater than 60% or a 7.0 CGPA.
Candidates with JRF-fellowship through CSIR/UGC will have an option to enroll into Ph.D.program. Applicants for the position of research specialist should have a B.Sc or M.Sc. in Life Sciences with  laboratory experience. Both positions require good written and oral communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work in a team environment with an aspiration to learn new techniques as well as explore new scientific areas are highly desired.
Applicants should note that the appointment is purely temporary and subjected to renewal up to three years and there is no Right to Claim for any regular appointment with the University.
