Station of Tea Research Association is a hundred years old premier R&D
institution located amidst the most picturesque surroundings of South bank of
river Brahmaputra and tea gardens at Jorhat, Assam in the Eastern Himalayan
region. It carries out frontline research on all aspects of tea and is the
world’s largest tea research Institute. It has the most modern research
infrastructure with dedicated and most qualified scientists from across the
country. The Institute provides one of the best working environments for
bringing excellence in research while enhancing individual capacities and
expertise. The Institute is seeking applications from eligible candidates for
the following vacant positions at Jorhat and its North Bengal Regional R&D
Centre, Nagrakata, West Bengal.
1.
Head, Plant Physiology and Breeding Department (Scientist F): Ph.D. in Plant
Physiology/ Breeding/Taxonomy with minimum 15 years experience in plant
research preferably in tea and other plantation crop/horticulture/forestry, out
of which at least five years in senior supervisory position. Experience in
research in reputed institutes and quality published work in high impact factor
journals demonstrating exceptional research abilities are desirable.
Job responsibilities:
To
lead a research team in Tea Physiology and Breeding Department and to motivate
and guide highly qualified research group.
1. Responsible for
developing research strategy and execution of research programmes.
2. To provide
leadership and direction to technical people.
3. To obtain fund for
research from funding agencies.
4. To represent
organization as assigned from time to time.
Pay Band: Rs 37,000–67,000,
Grade Pay Rs 8900, PB-4 with other facilities like PF, Medical, semi furnished
accommodation, regional allowance, etc. as per Rules.
Age: 40–45 years,
relaxable in case of highly experienced candidate.
2. Residue
Chemist: Ph.D. with 1st Class Master’s degree in Chemistry/Analytical
Chemistry/Bio Analytical Chemistry/Residue Chemistry. The incumbent should be
highly conversant with laboratory protocols and analytical techniques for
detecting chemical/pesticide residue in food product/beverage/plant parts as
well as the use of advanced analytical instruments. Should be able to make theoretical
analysis of detected limits against minimum residue limits and conversant with
food safety standards. Minimum of five years of post Ph.D. experience in a
similar capacity and published work in high impact factor journals
demonstrating exceptional research abilities are desirable.
3. Soil Scientist:
Ph.D. with 1st Class Master’s degree in Soil Science/Soil Physics with
minimum of five years of post Ph.D. experience in a similar capacity and
published work in high impact factor journals demonstrating exceptional
research abilities are desirable.
4. Water
Technologist: 1st Class M.E. or M.Tech. degree with specialization in Water
Technology/ Irrigation/Drainage with minimum 5 years experience in related
field and published work in high impact factor journals demonstrating
exceptional research abilities are desirable.
5. Asstt Residue
Analyst: Ph.D. with 1st Class Master’s degree in Chemistry with minimum 5
years experience in pesticide residue analysis and published work in high
impact factor journals demonstrating exceptional research abilities are
desirable.
6. Asstt.
Mycologist/Microbiologist: Ph.D. with 1st Class Master’s degree in Mycology
and Plant Pathology/Microbiology with minimum 5 years experience in related
field and published work in high impact factor journals demonstrating
exceptional research abilities are desirable.
7. Asstt.
Agronomist: Ph.D. with 1st Class Master’s degree in Agronomy/Tea Husbandary
and Technology with minimum 5 years experience in related field and published
work in high impact
factor journals
demonstrating exceptional research abilities are desirable.
8. Entomologist/Asstt.
Entomologist: Ph.D. with 1st Class Master’s degree in Zoology/Life Science
with specialization in Entomology with minimum 5 years experience in related
field and published work in high impact factor journals demonstrating
exceptional research abilities are desirable.
9. Scientists: Ph.D.
with 1st Class Master’s degree with specialization in Bioinformatics/Plant
Breeding and Genetics/Plant Physiology/Environmental Science with minimum 5
years experience in related field and published work in high impact factor
journals demonstrating exceptional research abilities are desirable.
10. Biochemist/Asstt.
Biochemist: Ph.D. with 1st Class Master’s degree in Chemistry/Biochemistry
with minimum 10/5
years experience in related field and published work in high impact factor
journals demonstrating exceptional research abilities are desirable.
All above posts (Sl.
No. 2 to 10) are grouped as Scientist E/C entitled for PB-3, Rs 15,600–39,100,
Grade Pay Rs 7600/6600 with other facilities like PF, medical, semi furnished
accommodation, regional allowance, etc. as per Rules. Age: 35–40 years,
relaxable in case of highly experienced candidate.
