National
Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Rocky Mountain Labs, Hamilton, MT
POST: PostDoctoral fellow (Activation
and Evasion of Innate Immunity by RNA Viruses)
A postdoctoral fellow position is
available in the Innate Immunity and Pathogenesis Unit within the Laboratory of
Virology at the Rocky Mountain Laboratories campus of NIAID (Hamilton, MT) to
investigate virus-host interactions associated with the innate immune response.
The laboratory studies highly pathogenic RNA viruses, including flaviviruses,
to uncover host proteins and signaling pathways required for early anti-viral
responses. We are also interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms
utilized by viruses to suppress innate immunity. Current projects are designed
to uncover novel cellular pathways required for 1) sensing RNA virus infection,
2) promoting interferon signaling and 3) virus evasion of innate immunity.
Fundamental approaches of the laboratory include molecular, cellular and
immunological based techniques as well as virus reverse genetics systems and
animal models of pathogenesis. Studies are carried out in BSL2, BSL3 and BSL4
laboratories.
REQUIREMENTS:
Motivated candidates with a
strong background in molecular biology and cell biology are encouraged to
apply. Experience working in high biological containment laboratories (BSL3 or
BSL4), knowledge of innate immunity or experience with reverse genetics systems
for recovery of infectious virus would be an advantage. Well-developed oral and
written communication skills are essential. Candidates must have a Ph.D. or
M.D. degree and have less than three years of postdoctoral experience.
Compensation will be commensurate with relevant work experience.
TO APPLY:
