POST: Technical/Scientific Officer for AVRDC-The World Vegetable Center
ICRISAT seeks applications from Indian nationals for the post of Technical/Scientific Officer for AVRDC to be based in Ludhiana, Punjab. This is a nationally recruited position.
ICRISAT is a non-profit, apolitical, international organization for science-based agricultural development. Established in 1972, it is an Alliance of centers of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), and supported by more than 48 governments, foundations, and development banks. To reduce poverty, enhance crop productivity and food security and to protect the environment, ICRISAT research focuses on farming systems and crop improvement, management and utilization of sorghum, pearl millet, pigeonpea, chickpea, and groundnut in the semi-arid tropics. 
ABOUT AVRDC: The World Vegetable Center is a nonprofit, autonomous international agricultural research center with headquarters in Taiwan and regional offices around the globe. The Center conducts research and development programs that contribute to improved incomes and diets in the developing world.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Organize training and other capacity building activities for vegetable growers;
•Assist in developing extension training materials and programs in coordination with project team members, and documenting success stories;
•Provide technical assistance in documenting, disseminating and promoting good practices and lessons learned from various project activities;
•Assist in the preparation of periodic progress reports, technical papers, and presentations for meetings, and annual reports as needed by project stakeholders.
•Provide project administrative support such as procurement, payments and maintaining accounts in accordance to AVRDC’s policies and regulations.
COMPETENCIES:
•Good training and extension skills and the ability to organize community based capacity building activities;
•Strong writing and verbal communication skills in English and Punjabi;
•Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver outputs within agreed time frames;
•Proficiency in Computer skills (Ms- Office, data analysis);
•Should be a good team player and adaptable to working in multicultural team.
REQUIREMENTS:
•Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in agriculture or horticulture extension or agricultural engineering or human nutrition or any other relevant discipline with minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
GENERAL: 
A competitive all inclusive consolidated compensation will be paid based on experience and skills. The appointment is for 12 months at Ludhiana, Punjab, India.
