NIT Rourkela is emerging as a leading centre of research in India in the field of science, and engineering and to a limited extent in social sciences and management. The Institute offers a number of post-doctoral Research Associateships that give opportunity to young researchers to work independently before entering their profession in teaching, research or industry. Applications are invited from Indian nationals possessing or expecting Ph.D. degree for award of Research Associateships in the following departments: Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, Mining Engineering, Biotechnology & Medical Engineering, Industrial Design, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Life Sciences, Humanities & Social Sciences (English, Economics, Sociology & Psychology).

Last date of receiving Application: January 15, 2012.

Applications received after the closing date will be considered only at the discretion and convenience of the Institute.

Every selected candidate will be required to carry out research independently in a department of his choice on a topic selected by himself. He will, however, be attached to a faculty member serving as a mentor for academic and administrative purposes, and will form a part of a research group within the department.
