The Wildlife Institute of India (WII) is a premier national autonomous Institute of the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoE&F), Government of India in the field of teaching, training and research. The WII wishes to engage 02 Junior Research Fellows (Indian nationals only) through a walk-in-interview on Monday, 5th December 2011. The details of the available position along with essential and desirable qualifications, terms and conditions and how to apply are given below:
PROJECT TITLE, DETAILS OF POSITION AND DURATION:  Identification and prioritization of research gaps in coastal and marine conservation in the East Godavari River Estuarine Ecosystem (EGREE).(01– JRF)
DURATION: TEN MONTHS.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION:  Masters degree in Marine Biology/ Marine Science/ Marine Fisheries/ Environmental Science/ Ecology/ Forestry/Zoology/Botany with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks from a recognized University.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION:  Research experiences in coastal and marine biodiversity. Experience in compilation, analysis and synthesis of research materials.
 DESCRIPTION OF WORK
 1.The study aims to Identify and prioritize of research gaps in coastal and marine conservation in the East Godavari River Estuarine Ecosystem.
2.The JRF will compile all published and unpublished research information about coastal and marine conservation in the East Godavari River Estuarine Ecosystem and than synthesise the same to identify the research gaps in consultations with various stakeholders.
 PROJECT TITLE, DETAILS OF POSITION AND DURATION:  Impact of global change on species composition in Western Himalayas: Himachal Pradesh. (01 – JRF)
DURATION: Till January 2013.
 ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION: Masters degree in Botany/Forestry/Wildlife Science/Environmental Science with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks from a recognized University.
 DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION:  Work experience in the Himalaya region with use of GIS and Remote Sensing.
 DESCRIPTION OF WORK:  Study the vegetation structure and composition, impact o global change, land use and impact of invasive species of floristic diversity with emphasis on changes in species composition, species transition and species loss.
 GENERAL TERMS & CONDITIONS
1.The age of the candidate shall not be more than 28 years for the advertised position of JRFs as on 30th November 2011. Upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years, as in case of candidates  belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Women and physically handicapped categories.
2.Selected candidate for the position of Junior Research Fellow will be paid consolidated emoluments of Rs. 12,000/- per month. In case of NET qualified candidates (UGC/CSIR) for Research Fellows, the selected JRF will be paid consolidated emoluments of Rs. 16,000/- per month and in case of NET qualified (UGC/CSIR) candidates with Professional P.G. Degree, he/she will be paid consolidated emoluments of Rs. 18,000/- per month as fellowship.
3. Selected candidate may be allowed hostel accommodation at the institute, as per availability. Where the hostel accommodation is not possible, house rent allowance (HRA) will be paid as per the rules of the Institute. Other allowances and benefits to the research personnel would be admissible as per the rules of the Institute, amended from time to time.
4. The selection of the candidate will be based on Walk-in-Interview to be held on Monday, 5th December 2011 at the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehra Dun. The registration will begin by 09:00 A.M. onwards.
5. Canvassing in any form is liable to rejection of the candidature.
6. Candidates should bring the duly filled-in applications with attested true copies of testimonials of educational qualifications, research experience, extra curricular activities, date of birth etc., along with copies of mark sheets of all examinations. All original documents should be produced at the time of registration.
7. One way travel expenses will be paid to the candidate, selected for the project. The expense will be limited to actual 2nd class rail/bus fare by the shortest route from his/her place of stay/residence.
8. The Institute will not provide accommodation for candidates appearing for the interview.
9. The application form can be downloaded from the Institute’s website www.wii.gov.in.
10. The Director, WII reserves the right to reject any candidature in view of incomplete information provided by the candidate or for any other reason.
