Walk-in-Interview will be held on 3rd July 2012 at 3:00 P.M. in the Seminar Room of the Plant Biology Division at Centenary Campus of Bose Institute, P-1/12, C.I.T. Scheme VII-M, Kankurgachi, Kolkata – 700 054 for one position of Research Associate OR Senior Research Fellow (Extended) in the DBT sponsored Project entitled “Generation of salt-tolerant rice : A translational approach” under Prof. A.N. Lahiri Majumder, Coordinator of the project and Principal Investigator of Sub-project I & II, Division of Plant Biology (Centenary Campus). The project is tenable upto 5th October, 2015. Details of qualification, associateship/fellowship, age etc. are as follows:
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION: Ph. D. degree in any branch of Life Sciences with research experience in Plant Molecular Biology / Biotechnology.
Candidates those who have submitted their Ph.D. Thesis may apply for SRF(Extended) position.
ASSOCIATESHIP: Rs. 22,000/- p.m., plus admissible HRA for RA / Rs. 20,000/- p.m., plus admissible HRA for SRF(Extended).
AGE: Below 35 years (relaxable in case of SC/ST/OBC/WOMEN candidates only as per rule).
Eligible and interested candidates should appear before the Selection Committee with a typed application addressed to the Registrar, Bose Institute, P – 1/12, C.I.T. Applications are invited from suitable candidates for filling up the purely temporary position of one Research Associate (RA) in the DBT's Sub-project-5 entitled "Regulation of root development by auxin and cytokinin mediated signaling of Root Development and Nutrition" under the supervision of Dr. Debasis Chattopadhyay, Scientist, NIPGR.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: RESEARCH ASSOCIATE (ONE POST): Emoluments as per project sanction & DBT norms.
Candidates having Ph.D. degree (awarded/Ph.D viva-voce successfully cleared) in any discipline of Life Science or related field. Experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, in vivo experiments with plant, gene-transformation in plant etc, will be preferred. The candidate should have first class/division throughout academic career from recognized University/Institution and research experience as evidenced from published papers in standard refereed journals.
The position is purely temporary and is co-terminus with the project. The initial appointment will be for one year, which can be extended/curtailed on the basis of assessment of the candidate's performance and discretion of the Competent Authority. NIPGR reserves the right to select the candidate against the above post depending upon the qualifications and experience of the candidate. Reservation of post shall be as per Govt. of India norms.

Candidates having M.Sc. degree with minimum 55% marks in any discipline of Life Sciences. The candidate having research experience in Molecular Biology, Plant Tissue Culture and field experimentation is desirable.
The position is purely temporary and is co-terminus with the project. The initial appointment will be for one year, which can be extended/curtailed on the basis of assessment of the candidate's performance and discretion of the Competent Authority.
