BRIEF DETAILS
‘CSIR Technology Awards’ were instituted in 1990 to encourage multi-disciplinary inhouse team efforts and external interaction for technology development, transfer and commercialization. These awards are in the category of:
(i) Life Sciences;
(ii) Physical Sciences including Engineering;
(iii) Innovation (to be awarded to the best innovation that has been patented in any area);
(iv) Business Development and Technology Marketing; and
(v) Most Significant CSIR Technology of the Five Year Plan Period.
Whilst, the awards in the category (i) to (iv) carry the cash prize of Rs. 2 lakh each, the award for the “Most Significant CSIR Technology of the Five Year Plan Period” has a cash prize of Rs. 5 lakh. The prizes are shared among the individual/ members of the teams/group(s). In case the prize awarded to joint winners, both receive the cash prize in full.
CRITERIA
The criteria for the awards in Life Sciences and Physical Sciences including Engineering shall be visible and sustained impact of a high order on the industrial/ economic/ societal activity, high scientific content, innovative character, global novelty and competitiveness of the technological development(s). Technology Award for Innovation will be given to the best innovation that was patented in any area. Technology Award for Business Development and Technology Marketing is for making significant contributions for enhancing the business of CSIR knowledgebase and will be given for the new business & marketing initiatives, strategies evolved and implemented, quantum of business generated and realised.
The award in the category “Most Significant CSIR Technology of the Five Year Plan Period” will be awarded once in five years, coinciding with the plan period, to such technology which has proven in the market place, atleast for 5 years. Accordingly, the X plan period technology (ies) will be considered in XII plan period. Thus, all technologies that have been implemented in X plan period, irrespective whether it has received an award or not, are eligible for nomination, under this category
NOMINATIONS
Nominations are invited from Directors, Director Level Scientists and RC Chairmen of CSIR laboratories. These nominations should reach CSIR by May 18, 2012. A technological achievement may be nominated for consideration of the Award for a maximum of three times only. A nominator for the award should not himself be the member of the group nominated for the award. The nominations should be accompanied with supporting documents in respect of claims made in the nomination. Only those  nominations meeting the above criteria will be shortlisted for the consideration of the Award Selection Committee.

Short-term training at Translational Health Science And Technology Institute


TRANSLATIONAL HEALTH SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY INSTITUTE
THSTI accepts outstanding students enrolled in post-graduate programs at recognized universities/institutes for short-term training in biomedical research towards partial fulfillment of their postgraduate degrees. Trainees will work under the supervision of faculty members. The minimum duration of the training program is six months and the training is available during January-June (session I) or July-December (session II).
ELIGIBILITY: The minimal eligibility criterion for consideration of the requests for short-term training is first division or an equivalent grade (or at least 60% of aggregate marks) in all major examinations from Class 10 onwards.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Training requests must be in the prescribed format and accompanied with a recommendation from the concerned Head of the Department. Requests are considered on the basis of available vacancies and resources.

Application duly filled in the prescribed format should enclose the following:
•Photocopies of the relevant academic certificates

DEADLINE: Last date for the receipt of training requests will be 31st of October (for session I) and 30th of April (for session II). Selected candidates will be notified by 15th of November (session I) and 15th of May (session II). The candidates are required to start their research training on 1st Jan (Session I) and 1st July (Session II). Interim correspondence in relation to the training program will not be entertained.
GENERAL CONDITIONS:
•Before the beginning of session all trainees have to attend two classes of one hour duration each on:
◦Biosafety rules in the institute
◦Translational Research
•All trainees are required to submit a formal project report and give an oral presentation at the end of the training period.
•The project report that the trainee submits to his/her educational institution should be duly signed and approved by the concerned faculty and a copy of the same should be with the faculty for institute records.
•The trainee will get his/her training certification only after completing all the above formalities.
•All short-term trainees are to be recruited only through this program and canvassing in any form is discouraged.
•Trainees will be bound by the guidelines of the Institute during training period.

A walk-in-interview will be held on 3.00 p.m. on May 2, 2012 in the Department of Chemical Sciencess, Tezpur University, Napaam, Tezpur-784028, for appointment of 01 (one) Senior Research Fellow (JRF) in a CSIR sponsored project entitled “Development of Natural Polymeric System for Controlled delivery of Anticancer agents” under the Principal Investigator Prof. T.K.Maji., Department of Chemical Sciences , Tezpur University, Napaam, Tezpur-784028.
FELLOWSHIP: Rs. 18000/ p.m
DURATION: Up to July 2014 or till completion of the project whichever is earlier.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION: M.Sc in Chemistry/Chemical Sciences/Applied Chemistry with specialization in Polymer Science. The candidate should be qualified in NET/ GATE.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 2 years research experience
Interested candidates may appear before the interview board with a copy of their bio-data, along with the photocopies of mark sheets, certificate etc. in support of their educational qualifications, experience etc.
No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
