Applications are invited for engagement as SENIOR RESEARCH FELLOW/RESEARCH ASSOCIATE in the Environmental Information System (ENVIS) Centre on Wildlife & Protected Areas at the Wildlife Institute of India, an autonomous Institute of the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India (GOI).
ELIGIBILITY FOR SENIOR RESEARCH FELLOW:
1. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS :(i) Masters’ Degree in Wildlife Sciences/Biological Sciences in First Class with two years of wildlife research experience; 
2.DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:(i) Skills in the design, development and management of computerized databases; (ii) Good knowledge of Wildlife Science; (iii) Experience of working in National Parks/ Wildlife Sanctuaries; (iv) Experience in documentation and publications.
3. CONSOLIDATED EMOLUMENTS: Rs. 14,000/ month.
4. AGE: Candidate should be below 32 years of age as on 27th January, 2012. (Relaxable in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/ Women upto a maximum of five years).
ELIGIBILITY FOR RESEARCH ASSOCIATE:
1. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS :(i) Doctorate degree in Zoology/ Botany/ Wildlife Sciences/          Enivromental Sciences/ Life Sciences
2.DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:(i) Proven record of peer-reviewed publications (ii) Skills in the design, development and management of computerized databases; (iii) Good knowledge of Wildlife Science; (iv) Experience of working in National Parks/ Wildlife Sanctuaries.
3. CONSOLIDATED EMOLUMENTS: Rs. 22,000/ month.
4. AGE: Candidate should be below 40 years of age as on 27th January, 2012 (Relaxable in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/ Women upto a maximum of five years).

GENERAL
1. Engagement on the above position will be purely on a temporary basis, initially for one year from the date of engagement and likely to be extended for further periods, depending upon the requirement.
2. The selection of the shortlisted candidates will be based on personal interview likely to be held in  7th February, 2012.

1. POSITION: Senior Research Fellow ( SRF) – 1 No.
QUALIFICATIONS: First Class Master’s Degree in MSc /M.Tech in Life Sciences or its equivalent from a recognized university with two years research experience. M.Phil., Candidates with one year research experience. Should have passed in National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted jointly by CSIR-UGC/GATE.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION: Knowledge and experience in animal handling and sample collection,maintenance and operation of sophisticated equipment like ICP-MS, GC MS, HPLC, UV-Vis Spectrophotometer etc.

PROJECT ORIENTED BIOLOGICAL EDUCATION (POBE)
These programmes, conducted in summer for 6-8 weeks (~ mid May to July), are aimed at infusing creativity and scientific temper into undergraduates, and involve lectures, laboratory projects and research work. Selected students are expected to work at the Centre for three consecutive summers, and will receive a monthly scholarship of Rs 6000 per month during their period of stay at the Centre. Upon successful completion of the programme, the students will receive a Diploma in Chemistry or Biology from the Centre. Those who complete the POCE/POBE programme with outstanding performance will be eligible for admission to the MS/PhD programme in the Centre subject to satisfactory performance in the interview.
