New Horizons & Rapid developments in the field of Veterinary Medical Sciences had revolutionized the practice of Veterinary Medicine and Patient Care. Advances made in Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologies and the current research enabled knowledge had changed the way, the Veterinary Medicine is practiced worldwide. Growing number of animal patients are presented to veterinary institutions with cardio-vascular, respiratory, digestive disorders, besides emergency & critically ill patients. This necessitates advanced knowledge and skills towards management of such disorders.
With the advent of Internet, Farmers and Companion animal owners seek to avail State of the art diagnostic and treatment strategies for their animals. This necessitates regular updating of Clinical skills and Knowledge in the fields of Veterinary Cardiology, Critical Care & Gastroenterology. Towards this goal and based on the clinical resources and materials available at this Centre, it has been planned to give knowledge and skills update to Faculty Members and Scientists employed at SAUs / SVUs / ICAR Institutes in the field of Veterinary Medical Sciences and Related Sciences.

Institution: The Madras Veterinary College is an institute of international eminence in India, with 108 years of Excellence in veterinary medicine and allied Sciences. It serves as a Centre of excellence in India in the field of clinical veterinary medicine.

·         Out patient medical practice with a case loads of 150-200 per day. Dedicated small animal inpatient unit with round the clock veterinary care.

State of the Art Facilities
State of the art referral clinics and Specialty practices for ruminant gastroenterology, udder clinic & mastitis laboratory, canine cardiology, critical care and dermatology and excellent human resources are available.
Cardiology: ECGs, Blood Pressure, Digital Phonocardiography, Echocardiography, Colour Doppler scan and Digital Holter monitoring
Critical Care Medicine: CCU with facilities for Life support, Blood transfusion, Critical care monitoring, ABG and Hemodialysis.
Medical Imaging: Abdominal ultrasonography, Echocardiography, Colour Doppler studies and Ruminant Ultrasonography.
Digital Endoscopy: State of the art videoendoscopy for Otoscopy, Tracheo-bronchoscopy, Upper & lower GI endoscopy and Genito-urinary endoscopy.
Ruminant Gastroenterology:
Video assisted Rumen fluid analysis, large animal endoscopy and Ultrasound imaging systems.

Course duration: Twenty One days (From 01.02.2012 to 21.02.2012)

Eligibility: Interested Veterinary Professionals working as Faculty members / Scientists in the field of Veterinary Clinical Sciences as well as other branches of Veterinary and Animal Sciences employed at SAUs / SVUs / ICAR and Central Institutes.

Venue: Centre of Advanced Faculty Training in Veterinary Clinical Medicine, Ethics and Jurisprudence, Madras Veterinary College, Vepery, Chennai – 600 007, Tamil Nadu.

Travel: The Participants have to make their own travel arrangements well in advance. The Centre will bear the travel expenses of the trainees by the shortest route as per their entitlement class of travel, which however is restricted to the maximum of II AC by train or bus as per ICAR norms.

Accommodation: Lodging and boarding will be provided in the teachers’ hostel. Responsibility of accommodating the family members, if any, (including their care) will be entirely of the participant.

Location and Season: Chennai is well connected by Air, Rail and Roads from all Major Cities of India. The training period would be the most comfortable season in Chennai with temperatures ranging from 22°C to 31°C.

How to apply? The participants are requested to fill in the registration form and send it through proper channel so as to reach the Course director on or before 06.01.2012. However, he / she may send an advance copy (via e mail) directly to the course director. The selected candidates will be informed individually. The participants are requested to keep in contact with the co urse director regarding their selection status and make necessary advance travel bookings to enable hassle free travel to and fro. The participants are requested to undertake journey to attend the training only after confirmation of their selection.

A Walk-in Interview will be held on 19.12.2011(Monday) at 10.00 A.M for recruiting Two Senior Research Fellow (SRF) for the National Agriculture Development Programme (NADP) Scheme on Value added dairy food manufacturing unit to maximize the returns from dairy farming” functioning at the Department of Dairy Science, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal -637 002. The post is purely on temporary basis and need based and they should not claim any regular employment at a later date. The service is liable to be terminated at any time without assigning any reasons thereof. The service of the persons so engaged will automatically stand terminated with the termination of the project. The duration of the project is for one year.
The details of the post and its minimum qualifications are as follows.
NAME OF THE POST: Senior Research Fellow (SRF)

DESIRABLE:
1. Candidates with an OGPA of 3.5 / 4.0 (or) 8.0 / 10.0 or above (or) First class or equivalent grade/ marks will be preferred.
2. Candidates with post graduate degree in Veterinary Sciences and candidates with Ph.D., degree in the mentioned non veterinary subjects will be given preference.
3. Candidates having research experience in a reputed laboratory / institute and capable of handling analytical equipments, computer and statistical analysis software will be an added advantage.
AGE LIMIT:
The maximum age limit is 35 years as on Date of Interview (relaxable as per government norms for SC/ST/MBC/BC candidates)
Filled in application in the prescribed proforma should be brought along with relevant original certificates (Course completion certificate, provisional degree certificate, degree certificate and experience certificate if any) and photo identity to the Department of Dairy Science, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Lathuwadi, Mohanur road, Namakkal - 637 002, on the day of Walk-in Interview. An objective type written test followed by interview would be held on the same day. The selection of the candidates will be purely based on their performance in the written test, interview, work experience, publications etc. No TA / DA will be provided for attending the interview.
