Positions available

Applications are invited for the position of Project Linked Persons for externally funded projects to be  executed by the National Institute of Biomedical Genomics, Kalyani. Each selected applicant will be appointed for a period of one year. The tenure of appointment may be extended depending on performance and availability of funds.

Project No.1:

Position (No. of positions available): Project Assistant Level II (3)

Essential Educational Qualification: M.Sc. in Human Genetics, Genetics, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Zoology or a similar discipline

Essential Experience: Experience in carrying out analysis of DNA/RNA samples; Laboratory experience of PCR, cloning & expression of genes

Nature of Duty: Collection and processing of biospecimens, Conduct of molecular genetics experiments; DNA, RNA, protein analysis, handling bacterial and animal cell cultures

Consolidated emolument (Rs.): 8,000/-fixed per month

Project No. 2:

Position(No. of positions available): Data Analyst (1)

Essential Educational Qualification: MSc or equivalent in bioinformatics/related discipline with proficiency in programming in C/C++, Linux, Perl

Essential Experience: Knowledge of standard programming languages, handling of software packages and databases, experience in handling DNA sequence/geno typing data

Nature of Duty: QA/QC and analysis of raw sequence and genotyping data generated by the second generation flow cell sequencing platforms, programming , design and operation of second generation flow cell sequencing data analysis pipelines

Range of consolidated emolument (Rs.): 18000-25000/- fixed per month

Project No. 3:

Position(No. of positions available): Data Analyst - A

Essential Educational Qualification:

Essential Experience:  BE/BTech/Msc or MCA or equivalent with a good academic record. Proficient in perl/Python/ C/C++, linux and handling databases

Preference will be given to applicants with background in one or more of the following: Genetics, Statistics, Mathematics, Bioinformatics.

Two year work experience.

Nature of Duty: Building efficient computational pipelines for mining of bioinformatic databases, large-scale genomic simulations and statistical analysis of genomic data. Developing open-source software tools for genomic analysis.

Range of consolidated emolument (Rs.): 12000-20000 pm

Project No.4:

Position(No. of positions available): Junior Research Fellow(1)

Essential Educational Qualification: M.Sc. in Human Genetics/Genetics/ Biotechnology/Molecular Biology/Biochemistry/Zoology with a good academic record.

Essential Experience: Experience in carrying out analysis of DNA/ RNA samples

Nature of Duty: Collection and processing of bio-specimens, Conducting molecular genetics experiments using human DNA/RNA samples.

THE CANDIDATE NEEDS TO BE STATIONED IN AGARTALA, TRIPURA and work in INDIRA GANDHI MEMORIAL HOSPITAL, AGARTALA. Requirement of project needs frequent travelling to various hospitals in Agartala (Tripura).

Range of consolidated emolument (Rs.):Rs.12,000+ 10% HRA [for NET/GATE qualified candidates, Rs.16000/- + 10% HRA] for the first year
