Group Leader(Chemical Genomics) vacancy at Chemical Genomics Centre of the Max-Planck-Society

Chemical Genomics Centre of the Max-Planck-Society
POST: Group Leader (m/f)
The Max Planck Society together with Merck Serono, AstraZeneca, Boehringer Ingelheim, Bayer HealthCare and Bayer CropScience plans to appoint an Independent Group Leader (m/f) in the field of Plant Epigenetics and/or Systems Biology of Plant Epigenetics in the Chemical Genomics Centre of the Max Planck Society.
FIELD OF WORK
The Chemical Genomics Centre is an initiative of the Max Planck Society in cooperation with five leading life science industry partners. Its goal is to promote world class research in Chemical Genomics. It has a proven track record from its first funding period (2006-2011), and will serve as a role model for excellent and fruitful collaborations between academic research and life science industry again in the second funding period (2012-2016).
The Chemical Genomics Centre develops novel chemistry, biology and chemical biology approaches to gain new insights into biological systems. The independent groups will focus on a current topic of chemical biology, including, but not limited to, protein-protein interactions, compound library development, novel target identification techniques, stem cells and epigenetics.
REQUIREMENTS
Successful candidates will have a strong background in plant (epi)-genetics, signalling or molecular biology or related areas, as demonstrated by an excellent publication record. Skills and experience in bioinformatics or systems biology are highly desirable. Group leaders hold an advanced degree preferably with at least one year post-doctoral experience.
OFFER
The position is for a group leader at the junior or associate professor level; the five year project starts in 2012. Funding will be provided in collaboration with Merck Serono, AstraZeneca, Boehringer Ingelheim, Bayer HealthCare and Bayer CropScience and includes support for the group leader position, Ph.D. students and Post Docs.

Applicants considered for the position are expected to participate in a symposium in Dortmund in February 2012.

The Max Planck Society is committed to employing more handicapped individuals and especially encourages them to apply. The Max Planck Society seeks to increase the number of women in those areas where they are underrepresented and therefore explicitly encourages women to apply.
Applications including CV, publication list, a research proposal and two letters of recommendation should be sent in electronic form before January 20th, 2012 to:
