In vivo Imaging of HIV Pathogenesis

POST: A post-doctoral position is available at the Division of Clinical Research of NIAID. The position will be based in our SPECT/CT imaging laboratory in Poolesville, MD, with periodic visits to our offices in Bethesda, MD. 
JOB DESCRIPTION: The fellow will be involved in studies of in vivo imaging of  HIV pathogenesis using Simian Immunodeficiency Virus (SIV) infected nonhuman primates, and will work in an interdisciplinary research team of immunologists, imagers, radiochemists, veterinarians and mathematicians. The successful candidate will receive training in the following areas: hplc analysis, cell culture and viral replication assays, cell binding assays, autoradiography, SPECT imaging, animal technical procedures including anesthesia preparation and recovery for imaging sessions, and treatment and medication under the direction of NIH veterinary staff.
REQUIREMENTS: Applicants should have a Ph.D, M.D., or D.V.M. degree with a background in infectious diseases research, pathology, imaging or virology.
·         Candidates are expected to have less than 5 years of postdoctoral experience since receipt of their most recent degree.
·         Previous training or experience in working in nuclear medicine imaging studies or nonhuman primate infectious diseases studies is desirable but not required.
·         Must possess a license to drive since public transportation to our laboratory at the NIH Animal Center is not available.
