POSITION: Research Coordinator
REPORTING TO: Programme Coordinator, Tiger Research and Conservation Initiative (TRCI), Aaranyak.
LOCATION: Guwahati (HQ) and Field Stations at different parts of the NE India
REMUNERATION: Based on experience and qualifications. The position is for one year initially and may be extended and will be subject to annual evaluations.
ORGANIZATION: Aaranyak is a research organization (NGO) based in Guwahati and have been contributing to wildlife research and conservation in the northeast Indian region since its inception in 1989. The organization works on different threatened species including tiger, elephant and rhino. Aaranyak initiated its Tiger Research and Conservation Initiative (TRCI) in 2005 and since then working in different parts of Assam. Most significant of these are long term monitoring of tigers in Kaziranga and Orang National Park in Assam. To know more please visit www.aaranyak.org Responsibilities: The current position will be responsible for coordinating the ongoing research activities on tigers and prey animals in the region being carried out by the biologists of Aaranyak. Carry out field research and assist the team in data analysis, preparing reports and proposals for generating resources. Provide assistance in preparation of education materials to EE team of Aaranyak.
QUALIFICATIONS: Post Graduate Biological Science/Wildlife Management/Ph.D. Experience working with tiger and prey animals will be an added advantage. Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Should be able to speak Assamese/Hindi. The position requires the strictest levels of confidence and professionalism.

• Assist the Programme Coordinator (of TRCI) by coordinating ongoing research activities being carried out by biologists.
• Assist in designing, implementing and coordinating field research by leading the present team and help develop their capacity in scientific research.
• Assist in data analysis using modern software and tools.
• Compile, write and edit technical reports as well as grant proposals.
• Prepare materials for media and website to be published from time to time.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
·         Strong written communication skills to compile technical reports and grant proposals.
·         Strong editing skills.
·         Ability to work in harsh terrain and environment and meet deadlines.
·         Familiarity with research techniques and data analysis used in Tiger and Prey animal study.
·         Strong contributor in team environments and ability to lead team.
